Skoda Assistance

Featured Replies

My RAC cover is expiring this month.

Shall i renew?

Or is my 3 year old Superb reliable enough not to renew?

But i just happened to find a Skoda Assistance handbook in my possession.

Took a look and it covers the full monty?

A5BA110A-4C81-4C35-B9C0-AD7BAA7901D1-338

Now when i asked Skoda last year, they said it only covers ROADSIDE?

So,

How much have others paid?

Does it cover everything (roadside, homestart, relay, onward journey)?

I pay £9 a month for skoda assistance well worth the price for the peice of mind

£120 a year.

Wot does it cover mate?

Suppose it cant be person based?

No it is based on the vehicle as far as I am aware it has everything stated on the picture above touch wood I have not had to use it yet

9 times 12 = 108 It's 50 years since I went to school. Have things changed?

No.

But did u not learn how to round up? ;-)

I was just lazy - but u right!

I have RAC at home, roadside and recovery for both me and SWMBO via tesco club points. It's £58 worth of their tokens. IIRC the same cover for 1 person is a tenner less. I have skoda assist but I included me too in case I'm driving her car as thr RAC is based on people not the car.

£108 or £120, both sound very expensive for the cover provided.

I also suggest you check other providers, but I pay a lot less for Britannia Rescue.

I have Britannia rescue as well £80 odd for both me and the wife plus anyone who is driving my car with the car recovered to anywhere in the UK. Been with them for ten years now and on the three occasions I've called them, they've been great.

Cheers everyone.

It looks like maybe Skoda Assistance a bit pricey,

+ best to go with others that are person based then.

I've been with them since they were formed by the CSMA. Hardly ever used them lately, but since they have come top in the Which? tests so many times I am very happy with them.

Are you a CSMA member too?

I am!

Worked at HMSO!

all changed now :-(

Skoda assistance is cheap if you pay up front as you get the full package, home start, onward travel, hotel, hire car, full eu cover etc.

No, I didn't know anything about CSMA, I joined Britannia because I got a discount through my then Union unison, still get the discount through my current staff association.

I paid £160 iirc - up front for two years extended cover - includes everything including the valuable (for us anyway) full European cover. The Skoda assist guys have additional specific VW training and the Skoda Assist vans have additional vw related parts and full blown vcds diagnostics on board, unlike the standard RAC van also. :)

I thought Skoda Assist just use the RAC? Certainly an RAC van turned up for me when I called Skoda Assist on my seized locking wheel nut, but maybe they assign them to more general breakdowns.

Most Skoda assist are dealt with by normal RAC. The Skoda assist van is silver and is crewed by a Skoda Master Tech, had one sent out once and was very good Had some starting issues recently and had two callouts normal RAC came and were fine, If normal RAC is cheaper than Skoda assist can not see any reason not to have RAC if it has the same cover.

Yes.

I read Skoda site saying they chose RAC

£80 each ...negotiable?

It depends what you want from the service as they can be tailored to your needs / requirements.

Personally I don't want all the little add-ons and extra's that inflate the price.

All I want from a breakdown service is for them to get me and the car home or to a garage of my choice in the event of a breakdown/accident.

Things like home start are nice but not neccessary, onward travel and hotel accomodation is OK if on holiday but again it bumps up the price. It's basically an insurance.

I alternate between the AA and the RAC each year to ensure I'm a new customer and can therefore take advantage of their introductory offers.

Saying that it was only a few years ago that 'roadside' and 'recovery' could be had for around £40. This is now much closer to £80.

I still undecided

RAC renewal is £95 (same on website)

But includes roadside / home / recovery (person based)

+ £40 cash back (if i apply as new customer)

AA same for £95 (but £20 cash back)

GEM £70 (pay 1st then claim back)

IIRC

Not checked Greenflags or Britannia yet ....

I've got the renewal for my Octavia (just about to turn three years old) in front of me:

Debit/credit card, contintuos payment: 1 yr - £89, 2yr - £145

12 monthly continous payment debit/credit card: £9.08/month

Single payment cheque/credit/debit card: 1 yr - £99, 2yr - £155

Keyfacts leaflet says it covers roadside, recovery, at home, Onward travel, European

By the way - I got this sent to me by Skoda about a month before the 3rd birthday

EDIT: contact number on form: 0800 096 1174

promo code: SK9102 (no idea if that is personalised to me)

Thanks for everyone s help.

I just renewed with RAC on phone.

They offered me £95 for:

Road side

Recovery

Home start

And 15months cover :-)

Sadly my VRS broke down on me last night and I can't praise Skoda Assist enough. The service was fantastic and the car is at the garage now and I have a hire car in the mean time. Breakdown was there in 20 minutes and had regular updates from them. I will certainly be looking to renew with them and would recommend them to anyone!
