Service intervals?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2001 Octavia TDi 110, and I assume that as part of the dash display it should tell me when the next service is due.... My 1999 306 used to display this for a few seconds after turning the ignition on, but I have not seen this on the Octavia yet.

The reason for asking is that I was driving down the road the other day, and the oil light came on. Fortuantely I was only about 100 yards from a garage, so I poured in a litre of oil to keep it happy. Then it occured to me I am not sure when it is due its next service. I think the car has done about 76k miles - was 72k when I got it a few months ago.

Guess I should check the service book when I get home - assuming that I can find it - as I have just moved house and things are not quite sorted out yet!

Cheers,

Matt

I've got a TDi 110 as well, There are two types of service, a standard and extended one. You need to be sure which yours had last as the oil used is different making topping up tricky if you dont what service it had.

The extended service can give you up to 30k or two years between services and uses the synthetic oil whereas the standard service is preset to 10k I think.

The car should tell you when you need a service, the trip display will show Service 1000 miles and obviously decrease as you continue driving.

The oil warning light is nothing to worry about mine came on the other day and needed about 3/4 of a litre to put right. If the warning light is orange a top up is required if it's red that's not such good news and you should get to a dealer straight away.

When toppijng up make sure the oil level stays between the knurled markers on the dip stick, Also when the orange light comes on the ECU assumes you've topped up after you've opened the bonnet, there is a sensor on it or something.

If you don't know what service yous had last your dealer should be able to tell you by plugging in the diags machine.

Hope this helps?

Was just the Orange oil light and 3 "bings", iirc. I will have to check the service log - I bought it from a dealer who had part-ex'd it, so I doubt the last oil change he did would have been logged in the computer. I have a vag-com cable, so should I be able to track that info down?

Might do an oil change, so that I know where I stand!

Cheers,

Matt
