right blokes,,,

just payed 120 quid for a front mount intercooler setup (second hand),, which completes my parts list..

I have bought

tip

3' turbo downpipe with decat

recirc with 2 springs

n75 bypass kit

front mount intercooler with all pipe work and hard piping ready to fit..

I did it on 325 quid..!! :-D

the 400 did not include the 200 for my map.... that's separate guys.. I said 400 on bits

Well done mate I'm a bargain hunter too, the only thing I don't mind spending on is the remap, there's no substitute for someone who knows what their doing when it comes down to setting it all up properly.

Yeah well done mate am the same love looking for a bargin too :-) you any pics of your car?

N75 bypass kit.

whats that all about ??

Were did u source most of the parts mate

big lolz at this.

I can tell your new mate, you gotta know how to take him as he is a wealth of knowledge is Clive.  he knows these cars inside and out.  knows all about good stuff and cheap naf stuff that might seem good but its not just a case of bolting on a FMIC and thinking its better.

Clive speaks his mind and is normally right.

don't worry tho you sound like you have it all sorted.

Ill say one thing tho, as it stands and I know Ive had shed loads of different ones from lots of different companies while I had my octy, Get a proper one done. R tech springs to mind as Nikki is the best in the game at these 1.8T's specially when it comes to custom mapping.

my 2p worth

enjoy :giggle:

Right, lets try and be nice, new member, bit wet behind the ears, we've all been there.

No need to take the **** is there Clive. Your a sponsor remember, People using google to look you could see this and it doesn't look good.

So lets keep it civil and try and help the man out.

Ive personally seen the bare minimum for stage 2 go on ebay second hand for less than £300

in parts, I did it for 325 quid exactly mate... granted not all brand new but functional is fine by me,.. nobody can see the downpipe anyway and they don't stay shiney for long lol..

the t.ip was brand new cost 80 quid, and the recirc was new..

I have an idea, but came here for clarification because I know e30's inside out back to front but this is the first 20vt ive had as a change of direction for a bit

and ive got 200 quid in my draw for the map next week ;-)

thanks

i'd agree, you dont need to spend a huge amount of money on shiney bits that look fast, i've found bits like front mount intercoolers and bigger turbo's etc straight out of the scrap yard for pennies before.. so it can be done on the cheap if you are a bit savvy

Say wooooooot :D

I'm exactly the same with my cars I'd never pay mega money for parts. I bought my leathers cheap then sold my standard seats for most of what I paid for the leathers. Paid £40 for a rarb and a strut brace, got a cheap pd160 etc. The only thing I've bought at full price was coilovers and a faboka remap. Going from totally standard to the spec I'm at now it stands me at less than £500 so modifying can be done on a budget if you shop about. I have however done brakes all round and servicing and cam belt but I class that as maintenance

The reason you were asked for pics of your TIP, is because many of the silicon aftermarket ones available are pretty rubbish, and actually worse than standard.

Welcome to the site.

Good on you for sourcing cheap parts buddy.

The VRS does share a lot of tuning parts with the whole VAG 1.8t group. Cheap parts don't come up that often and tend to get snapped up quick.

Although Decat's are cheap these days so £100 for a new one is common.

Some pipe work will need to be customized if you have purchased a Golf FMIC kit, as mount slightly different.

I hate to think what I spend over the years and these days nice to get performance on a  budget. I tend not to sacrifice reliability and best performance over price though where it counts so not always does it work out.

Post up some pics dude, we are a nice bunch and happy to help you progress.

Maybe we started on the wrong foot but I will always tell you how it is

Stage 2 can be done cheap but getting the right parts that are better than oem and not a backwards step is key

Enjoy the car

thanks gents.. as i said before (i think lol),, i ploughed 4 grand into my e30 over 4 years..

i did several engine conversions on it starting with a 320 to 325i and building right up to the latest beast, full e36 2.8 24v .. im used to engines that make their own grunt without forced induction lol,, the e30 with the last setup was running 240bhp, but ina light shell it was bloody fast and fun

the t.i.p cost me 80 quid,, so im confident its not a ****ty one as i did see ones cheaper but on that part opted to pay slightly more in the hope it would be better.. its not arrived yet, waiting on delivery.. will see whats what when it gets here

we did get off on the wrong foot clive,, lets forget that and move forward mate...

i get what you were saying,, i just didnt like the tone ect but lets forget about that and start again from here? :-)

When you meet me you will realise I say it how it is lol ;-)

Things like tips and fmic have been tested back to back and I can tell you fact the oem side mount keeps the iat lower that the one you looked at tried and tested

You should look at a larger welly cooler £89 eBay

600x300x76

Also silicone tips if it's a forge creation Motorsport or any with thin neck you might aswell sell as the oem will perform better

You can do stage 2 cheap bud but when you said £400 originally thought that was mapping also

If you need advise I will answer I have also spent many an hour on BMW and worked with the guys that built a fee BMW mag cars ;-)

no no no lol,, even i know stage 2 cant be done for 200 haha...

i was under the impression the larger the cooler, the bigger the lag??

t.i.p.... you mean turbo end? if thats thin, no good?? i will post up a photo when it arrives,, now i know you aint going to mock me haha

The trouble with silicon parts is there is such a huge scene for shiny bits, that it creates a massive market interested in looks. Performance does not necessarily come with it, and in the case of the majority of aftermarket tips, sadly, you don't gain the performance. As for the price, well, there all much the same price give or take 30 or 40 notes, and £80 is close to the bottom end of the scale.

right I have the standard k03s on my octy and the tip is standard what would u say would be a good tip to buy for better performance and how much?

I've recently bought my vRS and aim to eventually reach stage 2 also, my car needs a bit of TLC first however and then handling improvements before I add any more bhp.

I'm a big e30 fan also and have owned a few, and a few other old bmws ;)
