pardon?? lol

He means anti roll bars.

It's a modification that I don't see why they didn't do from the factory. It matches the suspension up nicely to what should be on a 180bhp car.

You'll get varying opinions on what exact ones to go for, at a minimum you should get a whiteline bar for the rear and leave the front standard. If it was my money, I would do that and also change the downpipe for a decat or sports cat to make the most of a remap, maybe spend extra on the remap and get a good one.

fair enough,, what I ment was... im aiming for stage 2 tuned...

and if there is anyone out there with any goodies for sale to throw my way..

cash waiting as of next week :-)

Oh right, sorry.

No idea what's been done to your car already. Might be able to get your hands on Lloyds KW coilovers if he's still changing them.

Firstly what mods do you currently have? Secondly if your look for power gains u defo needing decat or turbo back system for the most out of the power gain then cai (cold air intake get one from eBay but better off with a decent filter like k&n along those lines)next thing would be in my opinion is remap stage one like shark r-tech or revo or if you are on a budget try a custom map but if your getting a custom map get one from a mapper who has done maps on there's cars a lot.also a fmic would be benificial on a budget go for toyosport that's what I have and it's fine.i am no expert on these cars and I am also new to this club but it is prob the best club around for helpfull ness tips and advice and I have had a gd look at threads etc on performance etc and I rekon that's what I think is best for power gains I might be wrong mate but if I am someone will correct me on this.if ur looking for handling then that's something I haven't really looked into tha much I have ta technixk coilovers and yes there cheap from eBay and yes there not the best but they do me and I am happy enuff with them. If I had slot more find I would love to spend it on all the good bits but when ur on a budget somtimes the cheap bits still do the job or even second hand decent parts are also good.everyone on here is very helpfull and will give I the best advise on modding your car probs one if the best forums around for advice tbh

thanks for the reply mate..

what im after mainly for now is power... I will sort the rest after..

I just got rid of (in bits) my beloved e30 bmw in which I converted her to run e36 328 24v 2.8 running gear that I fettled up to run around the 240bhp mark....

in a light shell, it made for a real fast old motor, but shell condition, new babies and lack of the right sort of funds to put right saw the end of that :-(

so, I have the vRS, and I want to make her on par, if not quicker than my old e30 (if possible),, but I do know I want min of 230bhp....

that's for now,,, my main aim

car appears to be standard but,,, its an ex traffic cop car so who knows lol..... but I cannot keep it this way

Ok, first things for power would be

a 3 inch downpipe, preferably decat (The standard ones are very restrictive and you'd be lucky if you'd get a true 200bhp with one fitted. The rest of the exhaust should not be restrictive on standard turbo)

Front mount intercooler is needed to keep temp down at stage 2, a lot of people are using toyosports ones.

Turbo intake pipe, the standard can collapse if pushed and is very small at the turbo side.

You realistically might be able to get a car as quick as your E30. Around 230 bhp is doable with the above. Torque can be incredible from these engines even compared to a 2.8. You should see over 350NM easily enough.

From my two mk1's... 1 a 4x4 and one a vrs.

If you want handling, then ARB and front/rear pads. rs suspension is not too bad out of the box, coilovers didn't give me as much handling as the arb did. Of course stopping power is never a bad thing... Also never saw the benefit of bigger discs / calipers even for trackdays, just used ds2500's and good fluid, never lost braking performance... sure 6pot's big discs may of been better again, but not for my needs.

To qualify that I didn't get coilvers on the rs, I did on the 4x4 as it was jacked up... I had the 4x4 first. Pushing into b roads, the 4x4 used to be a bit boaty, then got a bit eek... swapping to the rs, I didn't want quite as much eek from things touching the floor, so tried arb first and didn't need any more!

If you want a bit more go, then a stg 1 remap, plenty of options now for packages to jump into stg2, not sure how far 600 quid get you now on this side alone..

After that it's an aladins cave. I miss the brief time I had with a stripped n caged 325, that would show my vRS a clean set of heals, vRS had stg2, fmic, inlet spacer, ilet, tip, 2.5" cat back etc. But then I had heated seats and headlight washers, the bm had string holding the windows up tied of on bare struts.

I still miss them both.

Power without handling mods could be fun :) lol

Power

Map

Hiflo cat / de cat and exhaust

Cai ( i have my a kona at mo available )

Tip ( clive n rob can get the supersized tips )

Fmic ( rtech can hardpipe and supply - also clive iirc can get them )

Stage 2 shark map or R-tech

That should get your power up the 230bhp marker

Then id give though to roll bars and suspension as it wont be ur friend

Agreed, stage 2 with standard suspension and arbs isnt any fun to drive at all, constant interference from the traction control. Ive done my engine first and it is useless, struggles to put power down on anything other than pristine tarmac

Start from the ground up before going for power. Sort out handling and braking first, also what tires do you have?

That would be my starting point. Then before the stage 2 map I would get a front mount intercooler and sports cat/ decat.

You want stage 2 supporting parts on a £400 budget?

Ummm, okaaaaaayy...

Personally I think it's a waste of time anyway without doing something about the crap standard handling.

well yeah I do as it goes,,

3' turbo down pipe and decat = 100

tip = 70

fmic = 70

doesn't have to be brand spankin... part of the reason I posted this thread was to see if anyone out there had any of the items I need second hand which I will have cash waiting.

im not a novice to tuning.! maybey a bit new to these but I am aware things can be done without costing the earth. I put 4 grand into my e30,, im not doing the same on my daily thanks.!

Youll struggle, sorry,

You won't get stage 2 power on £400 simple

Stage 2 power before doing handling is urm a bit backwards IMO

A standard powered Octy that's had handling mods will be quicker than a stage 2 with none on any track IMO

anyone got a link to a decent set of arbs?

I didn't say I wasn't going to do them..

but after speaking to a few mates who have had a few of these engines, in Ibiza's, leons, golfs ect... they reckon all reckon if I find people selloing the parts I need 3' downpipe, tip, ect ect)... I CAN get stage 2

just like the remap companies Ive seen who want 300 quid plus to map it afterwards..... I don't think so.!!

ive a reputable guy in performance 3000 willing to do it for 200 quid, with dyno run before,, inbetween tweaks and after.. he did my previous car with awesome gains

no generic ****e... live session

we will see ;-)

Does the decat down pipe not affect emissions at m.o.t. time?

Yup it does.

A sports cat 100 or 200 cell will be spot on and no messing at mot. Jus get it hot

no I don't claim to know everything pal, but im not a 17 year old novice either..

what im saying is, on ebay I see miltek 3' downpipe decats for like 400 quid... then I see a second hand good condition item being sold for 100 so on that basis I do feel I can do it that's all. I wont pay 400 odd quid because its shiney and I can say it has a miltek sticker :-o

here is my e30, rebuilt from the ground up and the conversion built by me...
