my skoda fun keys missing help

Featured Replies

hi I am new to this skoda  forum and are not sure if I have posted this in the right area,I have brought a skoda fun pick up from my local dvla vehicle compound it is an x reg  but it has no keys,I can get a key replacement for the car but I still have the issue off the immobiliser can anyone tell me how if possible to bypass it or could you tell me what parts would I need off another Felicia to get the car running again cheers carl

Hello and welcome to briskoda, a question like this would normally be better in the specific model section but here goes.

Matters involving bypassing and anti theft device are not discussed in public view for obvious reasons.

the immobiliser unit and keys are matched together, this can only be done if you know the immobiliser PIN number, this matched set it then matched the engine ecu which can be done fairly easily without a PIN number by anybody with vcds.

the immobiliser unit is identical on all petrol engined felicia hatchback estate pickup and fun models so you may be better off obtaining a second hand unit with matching key and the locks etc and fitting this to the vehicle. The unit is made by Siemens and is a black box about 4" square and it lives behind the instrument cluster next to he sterering column.

some auto locksmiths nay be able to extract the pin from the unit but that doesn't help you with the physical shape of the key for them to cut.

Good luck, we have a fun truck register in the classic models section too if you want in.

hi thank you  for the reply and help  I know where the is a Felicia 1.3 breaking with the same lock and barrels so if I change the whole ignition along with transponder box will it work or do I need the ecu aswell as mine is a 1.6 and the breaker I have found is 1.3 cheers carl

The ecu is specific to each engine type, the 1.6 uses a magnetti-marelli type and you need this for your engine, however you can match any immobiliser transponder box to any ecu, it's only matching keys to an immo box which is slightly difficult.

To remove the ignition barrel it easier to just remove the entire steering lock assembly as one piece, you need to drop the steering column down then drill out to sheer bolts then the 2 halves of the steering lock casting will seperate, the new sheer bolts are about a fiver from the skoda dealer, one use things that you wind in till the heads snap off

thanks mate ill nip and get the parts and hopefully she will start

I swapped all over from a 1.6mpi I do have a ecu and immobiliser box and chip spare

if you can't find the correct parts then an auto locksmith that specialises in lost keys will be able to decode the door lock, cut a key, extract the SKC then program the transponder

That's interesting, I didn't realise that could be done.. Is that only on the haa profile keys or is that for the older edge type key? I don't recall ever seeing a lock serial number on an early type felicia lock barrel? The fun truck will be an older type edge key, the haa blade type keys weren't introduced on the felicia model range till late 2000 on the facelift models.

doesn't matter if it's a laser(HAA) or cylinder(double edge) key. An auto locksmith that specialises in lost keys should have equipment to sort most type of locks.

They don't read a serial number from the barrel. There's tools that once you've picked the lock it allows you to read the positions of the tumblers/wafers inside the barrel which you jot down to give the key cutting code
