OCTAVIA VRS TDI DASH LIGHTS/ILLUMINATION

Featured Replies

hI first post so go easy please,
I have a Octavia VRS Tdi 2011 and noticed today that when ignition is on and engine stopped there is no dash illumination apart from the speedo & rev counter needles ? but dash illuminates normally when side lights are switched on.
The only thing that lights up in centre dash area (with ignition on / engine off ) around heater / radio are the two knobs for the heater temp and the touch screen, I am sure that this used to light up also with only ignition on, again this lights fully when lights are switched on.

somewhat a strange problem could anyone shed some light on a possible cause.

thanks in advance Kenny

All totaly normal on the octy fl.

All totaly normal on the octy fl.

normally the background lights in dash cluster have illuminated when ignition is switched on regardless of whether the sidelights have been on or off

On my 2012 blackline back lights arent on its just needles lit up.

There are various options of instrument lighting that can be configured with VCDS. My Audi only lights the needles until you turn on the sidelights.

hey thanks for your replies

it may be of course that the system  is now working correctly and wasnt before!!

I'll see what its like in daylight as after finding a few other posts on here it seems there may be a sensor that dims the dash lights as it gets darker to remind you to switch on the headlights.
I've had the car a couple o years now so have got used with the dash fully lighting  up regarless whether its  dark or daylight without sidelights on.
