Arghhhh rear electric window! :(

Featured Replies

What the hell.  Just got back home from a journey and I went to put my rear electric window up drivers side and the thing just fell inside the door!!! :/

It won`t go back up.  Is there a quick fix to keep the glass permanently up until I can replace whatever is broken? I can`t afford anything at the moment :(

Also how do I get the door card off?? I removed all the star shape bolts from the card but it still wont pull off..

I need to try and come up with a fix asap.  Its ok weather now but I don't want to take my chances in this country!

There is 7 torx screws around the outside of the door card which you've removed but on the door handle pull the plastic cover off, inside there is two long Philips screws. Also take off the rear tweeter cover, unplug that and there is a little black Philips in there too. I always forget that one! It just sounds like the plastic clips holding the window to the runners has snapped. Its an easy fix I think. I've been lucky with mine but its a common fault.

Thanks. Got it off.I found two white pieces of plastic that look like they have snapped off from somewhere, they look important. How can I get the window to stay in the up position??

Also forgot to mention, push upwards on the door card as it sits in a groove along the top of the door. You'll have to cut into the plastic membrane to get at various things inside the door, but if you can, cut it through the centre not along the bottom ( like I did ) I had no idea how much water could leak in!

I suppose you could try some gaffer tape over the door stick it to the glass. Or, a plastic bag will keep the rain out.

oops, I ripped all the membrane off lol.  Looks like that will need replacing.    Can you see that pic link ?

Ah a fellow rocker. I like a bit of maiden now! Not sure about thirty seconds to mars though!

A bit of topic there sorry.

lol. I need to get this window to stay up!!

My rear window on my L&K has broken like 5 times, i am as I type waiting on another repair kit! So bloody annoying. I use duck/duct tape though this time i think i stopped using the window before it got proper snarled up because i managed to close it helping the motor manually.

B&Q for some gaffer tape buddy first of all. You will need some plastic sheeting and make a new membrane as your door will leak in then use the tape to stick your membrane on. On your broken part look for a part number on it order a new one.

Ive had to put some electric tape on it for now.  Seems to be holding lol.

Try your local Skoda dealer or TPS if you need it ASAP. They might have the part in stock. That looks the right part though.

Does anyone have any diagrams or instructions on how all the electric window mechanism goes together?

I`ve got the bit but haven't a clue how it goes together.  There is another white plastic mould that is part of the black cable that the motor appears to feed to pull the glass.  Haven`t a clue where this new piece goes or how it integrates with the metal wire/cable piece.

HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!

You haven't got a hope in hell of reassembling it. You want to get a complete replacement window regulator.

  • 1 month later...

Hi, did you manage to fix your window with the white plastic clip as I have the same fault and I've brought the new clip just need to fit it. Cheers.

Reassembly is hard, you need a friend or get clever with a g-clamp. That's how i do mine now.
