Featured Replies

The vrs is due its 3rd service its done 15k. moterline skoda in dartford have quoted me £265 for this service , I'm just wondering if this is a good price or I'm i having my pants pulled down ?

That sounds a bit strong - my third service (18,600) was £135 plus £45 for brake fluid change.

Thats what i thought the woman on the phone couldn't tell me what it included and told me to look in my service book ??

That's not very helpful - I'd try another dealer! It's just an oil and filter change (plus pollen filter).

If 1st service was a 'Minor Service', Oil & Filter, Fluid check, just not much doing,

thats about £110-£130 10,000 mile/ or 12 months.

2nd Service 20,000 miles or 24 months,

'Major Service',  'Inspection Service'

including getting a Pollen Filter change, that is or should be,, £175-£230

3rd Service 30,000 miles or 3 years,  Minor Service, £110-£130,  plus Brake Fluid Change, £45.

so £175 Max.

??So is she quoting on a Major Service/Inspection Service which is not due at 3 years if it was done at 2 years?

You need to ask what they want to do, and why they want to charge so much.

Those prices are high enough,

and i would ask why they are not matching or bettering.

Reassuring to know their prices include - "ŠKODA stamp in service book" ;) .

The First Service at the supplying Dealership often came with that 10% Loyalty discount, that seemed to make it more expensive.

Can i not just change the pollen filter my self and ask for a minor service ?? £100 is expense for a pollen filter !

The Pollen Filter is only £11-£14 , You can tell them to not do it if you want, but thats not the reason for the price she quoted.

It is a Minor Service that should be done at 3 years/30,000 miles,

or as your car is at '3 years and 15,000 miles'.

??

But did the car get a 2 year/20,000 mile Inspection Service done.?

If you are out of Warranty and not buying an Extended one, then Service the car anyway you want it.

You need to ask what they are doing.

This pics are of part of a 'Major Service Maintenance list' as i had done on a car with 12,000 miles & 2 years old.

it was £177..

I found this:

As far as i can see its only for 'participating dealers',but it gives you an idea.

Im confused abit though. How old is your car?

You say change pollen filter yourself, are you aware you can infact do the entire service yourself and not void the manufacturers warranty? (I saw that on fifth gear last night haha) Although lack of stamp will decrease your cars value quick and fast of course.

You can not do your own service and not Void the manufacturers Warranty, by the terms of their Warranties and the 'EU Free Market'.

You can have a VAT Registered Workshop or Mechanic, Technician etc use the correct parts.

So if you are such a person, then on you go.

Re Participating Dealers,

they are often charging more than the Non Participating in the Skoda 'National Pricing'

The whole set up is a rip off really. IMHO

Oh really? So skoda have set the benchmark pricing too high? Good to know

I wish i knew of a car decent garage (dealer or not) to. Do a decent job at a decent price and i can trust. Unfortunately they dont seem to exist.

Tempts me to forge a dealer stamp and do it myself, atleast then i know its a good job Haha. I joke :)

The cars an 11 plate and will be 3yrs old this year its been serviced at 6k and again at 10k so yearly intervals also does this service not include an air filter ??

No.

But it is worth checking the Air Filters condition, even though the mileage is so low.

(An air filter is about £17)

When you find out from them what they want to do for £265, please let us know.

Interested to know why it is not just a 'Minor Service' getting done @ under £130.

With the Suggestion of the Brake Fluid Change being done. (Due at 3 years old)

& possibly the MOT.

Be sure to get any Warranty Work done before it is 3 years old.

Badges front or back replaced if showing Corrosion.

Wheels replaced if Dark Chrome Gigaro with White Spider Corrosion.

Drivers Seat or Base if it is being sticky.

just some of the common problems.

If you have Heated Seats, see if they need to replace the Elements.
