Last night I went to a BMW car club meet at my local pub. Although no longer a member, I have been going for a couple of years now - first Monday of every month.

As you can imagine it's more about having a couple of drinks and a chat, than anything serious - but I was chatting to a couple of blokes. One in his mid-late 30's who owns a very rare E30 c2 2.7 4 door on a J plate !!! The other in his late 50's has a E36 M3 Evo 4 door. They had just come back from a weekend at the Nurburgring [not sure which weekend though] and between them they have about 100 laps under there belts - so they know it reasonably well. The cars are not that much different in performance though surprisingly, despite there being over 100bhp between them.

So they were saying how great it was, and funny moments where they picked on a load of Elises that were prancing around aswel as a couple of monsters [Ferrari / Porsche etc] and all was going well until they started following a British plated Fabia vRS. :eek:

They were seriously impressed, and struggled to stay with the car. Apparently they had a chat with this chap who owned a Porsche boxter aswel [ring any bells ??]

Anyway, we got on to chatting about how fast certain BMW's go around the ring, and I was saying how interesting it was that the last 10 years worth of flagship models have done laps of the ring within a minuet of one another ?

No coincidence me thinks.....

Here is a brief list of unofficial figures - roughly taken from the first bridge to the last bridge.

7:50 - M3 CSL (sport tyres)

8:15 - BMW Z8 400 HP

8:22 - BMW M Coupe 321 HP

8:28 - BMW M5 400 HP

8:35 -BMW 130i

8:35 - BMW M3 Coupe 321 HP

8:36 - Alpina-BMW B3 3.3 Coup

Z8,the nicest,the greatest and the most desirable of the lot (to me,don't care what anyone thinks ) But I understood it ploughed through corners as opposed to going round..oh well,fair play
