Ok so further to my problems I notice tonight when under load the turbo is screaming!!!

 

So to go with the burning oil and smoking on idle, plus my mate saying he suffered the same symptoms with the end result a turbo needed.... I need to know how much are these to get hold of please??

 

Starting to regret buying this car now as I can count on 2 hands the amount of days I've had it.!!! ;-(

Not a good start at all, as I not only need the car for my own fun, but mainly for carrying my children and family around in it :-( 

 

And I just spent a load of money on stage 2 bits including my latest purchase, a turbo stage 2 unlocked ecu which I wouldn't dare fit yet or that would be the end of the turbo immediately :-/

Hello, they seem to vary quite a lot in price, some days you are lucky and pick one up off ebay which needs a refurb for a tenner, but a good second hand unit with low mileage will go for anything upto £300, the ko3s turbos are quite sought after for folks upgrading the 150 bhp engines from the standard ko3 unit.

Why buy an ecu when your mate maps??

Because it was offered to me as a "would I be interested".. And "make me an offer"... 

 

So I did...... 160 quid and he took it.. So not only  bargain, but 40 quid less than the map I was going to have at 200

If the housing isn't damaged then that's all you need

If changing this I would also check the oil pickup pipe and replace too.  Also of course do an oil and filter change straight after the turbo swap.

Just picked up a ko3s turbo from Birmingham.. has a forge actuator on it aswel which is nice :-)

 

Minimal play, looks good 

 

Just need to fit... going to drop sump and clean the pickup for definate I think

I have 2 dead bam engines in unit this week due to failed pumps !!!

im going to wait until ive got the bits and do it all in one go,, oil, filter, turbo to manifold gasket, my 3' downpipe ect ect..

 

how much are oil pump for these?
