LED Tail-Lights '61' plate

Recommended Posts

As stated,

An estate (no idea of model, as it was 06:45) passed me whilst I was running to work yesterday morning, with LED tail-lights
I can't answer for whether the indicators were also LED, as it wasn't deviating

Does this imply that they've been available as an option on new vehicles/last stock of Octavia 2'??, or an aftermarket item

Vehicle seen Ferry Lane, Stanley, which is the road from Altofts/Normanton, that joins with A642 Aberford Road (jct 30/M62 into Wakefield)

LED tail lights have never been fitted as standard or as an optional extra on the MkII Octavia - at least in Europe.

However in China they are fitted as standard so it is possible to source and retrofit the LED rear clusters to a UK spec Octavia.

Non-OEM aftermarket versions are also available such as the Dectane ones which are more popular than the OEM version as they do not need coding or modifying in any way (plug and play).

See this thread for pictures...

xpower is from Solihull so I doubt it was his car. He is the only UK member I know who has fitted the OEM tail lights but as mentioned they need resistors adding to prevent the blown-bulb warning on the dash...

The genuine Skoda Shanghai LED clusters can be found here...

Or some prefer the aftermarket clusters from Dectane (now confirmed as available for the hatch). They can be had in black tinted or clear...

Just randomly came across this thread. By any chance was it a white vrs estate? Cos I think you might have seen me lol. I have rear LED lights on my mark 2 and drive that road daily. Small world haha

Best mention they are not standard. Got them from Dectane as Silver1011 posted. They were pricey but worth it. The whole clusters are LED so includes indicators, reverse, running and brake lights

Rich

Yes, it was white

Roughly the time stated, give/take 10 minutes (not certain)

You passed me by the 'sheltered Housing' complex, I was on my way to PGH

I think, in that case, I might know where you live (although I may be wrong!!)

Almost correct

Unless your Dectanes are different to my Dectanes, the reverse light isn't an LED

After finding this post last night I had a look this morning and you are correct Brimma, reverse light is a bulb. Not sure why but it is. I live near Allums butchers in Altofts Rich. I usually drive my Mrs to work at Pinderfields around that time.

Yes, if that Butchers is the one I think it is, you live where I thought I'd seen a white vRS

And, as stated, I was running to Pinderfields for my own shift there (as I will be today @ about 12:45) - unless I ride there instead
