Steering Problem

Featured Replies

My friend has an intermittent steering problem with a 01 1.2l Petrol Skoda Fabia.

Symptoms are intermittent loss of steering while driving. No lights or anything else acting funny. Car also appears to pull to one side.

When you turn on the ignition the battery light comes on and I'm not aware of any charging issues. Scanned with VCDS and no charging fault codes only low voltage on the convenience module.

Checked battery and looks reasonably new and is 50AH which leads me to believe its being changed at some stage. She only has car 6 months and not sure of the history.

I tried to scan the PAS module 16 steering but it would not communicate.

Any ideas. the fact that its not communicated is strange. Next step is to clean all the grounds and check the connections.

Fluid is also fine.

Anyone??

Inability to communicate with the PAS module suggests the fault lies there rather than with the angle sensor, because the pump and control module are integrated this means a new one may be needed.

mine pulled to the left changed the top mounts today and now its mint drives like new the bearings fall apart over time
