VRS Cruise Control Retrofit - Cheapest / Best Value?

Featured Replies

Well folks, think we all got a little carried away with the insurance implications on OE retrofit cruise. Point taken though, and I would have no problem declaring it to my insurers the minute it's fitted.

For that & other reasons (value, pro fit, lazy) I will look at getting it fitted by a valid company and as stated, Awesome's price does take some beating!

Thanks for all the tips and info

I agree not much mark up on a upgrade like this, wonder what the factory option list price was when new ? and yes Bowder's the new kits come with a single loom the part no. is in the useful part no. section.

well I know Sat nav was a stonking price on the option  list when new , I paid around £300 few years ago from Lithuania and fitted it .Funny as nowadays Sat Nav is pretty common in cars. Even though the sat nav is out dated it fill's the dash well.

The single loom is a much simpler install then

Here you go folks, cost of options on the 2004 vRS including VAT (from a price list back then):

Black Magic or Diamond Silver metallic paint: £275

Cruise Control: £150

Electric sunroof £450

ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) £450

Front passenger airbag deactivation switch £60

Heated front seats £180

Parking sensors £225

Satellite navigation (including disc) £1800

Side airbags £320

Xenon headlights with headlight washers £600

The vRS on the road cost £15,535, only £550 more than an Elegance 1.8T and a grand less than an L & K 1.8T (which sort of explains why they're both so rare when compared to the vRS, with its more powerful engine).  Estates were about £700 more.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd have specified cruise control, parking sensors and heated seats at the very least if I was buying a new one at the time!

And xenon headlamps - much better than the two candles burning in the window as standard.

Without a doubt!  I'd have probably specified side airbags as well, just in case.  Getting expensive...

£150 for cruise I'm amazed at that price. Can't understand why you wouldn't want it from new.

Im half tempted at £120 from Awesome.  Dont do a huge mileage though, only a 5mile trundle down the motorway each way to work and a few other journeys.

Do it it's the best mod I've done, great for average speed cameras and going through villages where the camera vans lurk
