It's not for the faint hearted but not too bad if you have time and confidence.

I did mine wasn't to bad but could have done with a magnifying glass to see the PIN numbers at the ecu end. Splitting that plug at the ecu is the hardest part IMO.

Having looked into this and the price of the bits I can't see how Awesome do this at £120 - its a really good price. The other thing to bear in mind is the insurance impliaction of fitting this . I know its retro fitting original equipment but what would the insurance company make of it if it somehow contributed to a crash and it wasn't declared? I think I know the answer.

If your going down that route you'd have to declare oem mud flaps!!! As it's factory option and not aftermarket think you'd be ok. Also doubt many insurance assessors would be able to work of it it was factory or dealer fit.

Also kit from skoda dealer is less than £50 trade price so they are making £70 on fitting. If your fitting these regular reckon you could do it in 30-40 mins tops. Took me 1 hr then got a mate to code it.

Worth bearing in mind that insurance loss adjustors also visit these very forums following accident/thefts . I found this out to my cost when I described my stolen VW camper very honestly to give an accurate descripton - this was then used to beat me down on settlement price!

True they are underhand, robbing scum worse than car thieves IMO. Rant over sorry forgetting myself there.

That was indeed the hardest PITA bit and needs some confidence to attack it .

I checked, re checked as the dam numbers are so small , then they are not numbered all across right so you have to work out the sequence spacing.

I took about 3 hours coz i went about cleaning, painting tweaking other stuff along the way

I think some of the newer looms are 1 piece also , mine was a 2 piece loom 121 pole plus the main loom

I think £70 to fit is not too bad TBH as they would need to allow for wiring issues and poor crimping, unforeseen issues etc.

Most dealer charge what £68 per hour.

£120 is a good all in price

I am so out of touch with prices as do stuff myself ......

My local dealer up here is on £98/hour, don't know how they get away with it really.

Speaking as a retired independant enginneer for an accident reconstruction firm, you would be really amazed how easy it is to establish the delivery/dealer history of a car before anybody even comes to look at the car to see if it matches the spec. Really worth thinking on when thinking about declaration or not.

And to all the regulars on here, sorry for starting the declaration game again :giggle: , thats all i'm going to say on it.

I have Car Data printouts for my old Octavia 1.8T, my Fabia vRS and my Octavia II which list all options fitted or otherwise. I declared to my insurer (LV) cruise control, a full leather retrim, and parking sensors which I had retrofitted to my Octavia II, along with 17" Zenith alloys which i fitted in place of the original 15" alloys. There was no increase in premium.

I think £70 to fit is not too bad TBH as they would need to allow for wiring issues and poor crimping, unforeseen issues etc.

I agree not much mark up on a upgrade like this, wonder what the factory option list price was when new ? and yes Bowder's the new kits come with a single loom the part no. is in the useful part no. section.
