how long will it take a garage to fit a set of springs? my local garage charge £40 an hour. just so i can work out my budget when ordering my new springs. cheers.

Easily done in 2-3 hours

But knowing a garage they will take this pi55 and charge about 4

a mate and I changed the shocks and springs on SWMBO's driveway in < two hours. One trolley jack and two axle stands. He had an hydraulic spring compressor and a Snap-On battery wrench.

 

A garage with access to ramps etc to get it in the air and air tools should be getting in done a lot quicker than what it took us IMO.

 

That was on a MkI Fabia BTW.

Dont forget alignment. If it takes two people to do it in 2 hours (4 hours work basically) then I'd expect the garage to do it a bit quicker with equipment and that. 

 

Tbh, we are all stabbing in the dark, ask your garage, they'll be able to answer. 

+1, get a quote. Hope they stick to it. Try a Skoda dealership. I had to get my bonnet cable replaced. Skoda book listed as a .80hr job. Took them ~2hrs to do mine but still charged the quoted .80hrs labour.

i would normally have done it myself but i now have a 2yo which takes up all my time. fitted my own suspension on my fabia when i had the time. seams soooo long ago lol

an hour?! Thats impressive, it'd take 10 min to get the car in/out the workshop and onto the ramp! So 50 min to do the springs, 12 and a half min to do each spring! I'm assuming thats without alignment

How is bossfox's citigo taking so long? They should have been able to build that in a 37hour week

It will take too long to fit the front two springs, but won't take too long to do the rear two.

Can be done in about an hour if they get straight on it and know what they are doing, rears are easy
