Facelift conversion

Featured Replies

Has anyone done a front end facelift conversion?

Will be getting bodywork repaired over next few months but not the front wings and bumper as im toying with idea of front end swap with a fl vrs.

has it been done? And what do I need?

am I rite in thinking the bonnet is the same? Its just all other stuff.

rkb

Yes its been done, by stamass (check spelling) on here. More complicated than you think.

The only issue though is Skoda have dropped the daft headlight styling of the FL and gone back to simpler design for the MK3 so with a pre FL yours now looks more like a modern Skoda.

Sorry just can't get on with the size of those headlights and the odd curved top bit, look like dame Edna everage glasses.

Lol, love the "Dame Edna" comparison! lol

I just prefer the look of the fl now, looks a bit more agressive IMO.

look like dame Edna everage glasses.

You should have seen my saab lol. In the saab community, the post 2005 9-5s were all nicknamed dame edna on account of the big sweeping headlights with chrome trim!

I do like Saabs, its just the interiors i didnt like.

If I remember correctly there is quite a difference. Saw a thread on here a few weeks ago with the list of parts required and I am quite sure bonnet was different.

Just found the thread

from what I can see, the bonnets are the same, its just the grille that differs.

I'm not arsed about the electrics because thats easy enough for me to tackle.

I'm thinking wings, headlights, grille, slam panel (maybe) bumper + all trim and lights.

I liked the interior styling on mine, not a million miles different to the octy tbh, the newer GM ones like I had were very plasticy though in the materials.

Seats in the saab were the comfiest I've been in, makes the octy feel like a wooden picnic bench :-D

Was a great car really, just a bit thirsty on fuel for the miles I do! Anyway sorry for the thread hijack, couldn't resist! :-)
