Can you fit hid lights to the fabia vrs

Featured Replies

I'm think of getting some hid lights or get some cool blue lights

Sorry but there is no such thing as 'cool blue lights' IMO.

Blue lights are reserved for emergency vehicles and boy racers. If you are the latter then the former will be feeling your collar frequently :-(

HIDs are the way forward for sure if you have projector headlights.

Is the hid lights easy to fit

HID are really easy to fit, they are plug and play

The thing with the cool blue lights, in my experience, is that they do not put as much light on the road. I used to think they liked the mutts nuts but on a sparkly vrs they may look cheap. I would love a vrs!

I know this may sound daft but do you just take the bulbs out and put the hids in with the ballasts

Pretty much. There is a little more to it than that but that's most of it. You need to plug the cats wiring into the ballasts....it's all little plugs that you can't get wrong. You need to mount the ballasts, again a simple job. The trickiest bit is the bulb holder and the rubber cover that you have to cut.

Soon to be illegal and form part of the mot! So if not factory fitted with levellers , you are illegally on the road and potentially blinding on coming traffic :(

Is there documentation on the up coming legislation?

You need to decide what colour hid kit you want. Do a quick google search and have a look at the different 'k' ratings.

Put simply though, 4000k or 5000k is the oem hid kit, any higher than fhat (6000,7000 upwards) you begin to go onto the 'chav blue' colour. These do put out less visible light than the 4000k kits.

Iv got 5000k in mine and it just gives a slight blue tint, but on the road it looks pure white really. Looks good and puts out sooo much more light than your halogens.

Fitting is easy, give yourself 45mins fitting time and you should have enough time for a can of your favourite ale in that time too!

Only thing you have to cut is the rubber boot thing, and the little clip can be a little fiddley to get over the hid plug (if you use the standard ones).

One tip before i stop babbling. Always turn on your engine before lights. Hids use a very high amount of current draw within the first few seconds of start up (then settle down to a steady 35w or 55w once warm). If you do repeated start ups without your engine on, youll soon flatten your battery

I fitted them to my VRS pretty soon after getting it as the factory Halogens were shocking. I went for 35w 4300k and I would say they are a perfect match for my DRL's :)

After fitting them they were very low even on the highest setting but then the standard bulbs were too. So took the car down to my local MOT place and got them to raise them and they are now set to just below the max for MOT Legal. They also said they would not even hesitate in Passing them as the beam pattern is perfect with little to none addition scatter. Its the exact same pattern as the standard bulbs just brighter and a better colour.

Had them in and at this height for about 3 weeks so far and done a lot of night driving and haven't been flashed yet. I would say they are almost as bright as the OEM ones you see in the BMW's and stuff.

Defo worth upgrading too :)

Got a link to the ones you bought? :-)

The new audi and bmw ones are 55w. Theyre fantasticly bright, but id leave that to those boys, the 35w is bright enough.

Www.hidsdirect.co.uk is where i got mine from
