Glove box lid catching

Featured Replies

We have a problem with the Better Half's Fabia.  It has 2 glove boxes on the passenger side dash and the lid on the lower one is sticking when you try to open it.  working the handle allows it to open about 0.5 inches enough to clear the catches and then stops.  If you press down on the lid there is a cracking noise from the hinge and then it soft opens as it should.  I have tried giving it a squirt of WD40 but it makes no difference.  my main question is how do I get into the dash to get to the hinges/soft open mechanism?.

Diagrams or photos would be great.

Many Thanks

It's tight fitting but assuming RHD, with the door open, take the panel off from the left hand side of the dashboard. Inside there is the soft close mech.
