just realised this might make no sense to some! it was storm damaged, a slate from my roof went through the spoiler and into he tailgate

Lucky it hit the spoiker and not the roof itself. That could of geen a big job!

indeed! it would have gone through the roof, they said they would have been able to put a new roof in though, and wouldn't have written off the car!

yes guys thanks, looks brand new, i cant complain, and the mileage didn't go up at all so they didn't drive it either £150 excess to pay, but better than the £900 odd it cost to repair!

I dint know they could repair the roof. Interesting

I didn't either, I thought it would have written it off, they say its spot welded at the seams, they drill it out, and simply replace the whole roof with an original factory panel!

This is what happened to my digs when I lived in Cumbria (Jan '05) I only had my mk1 vrs 1 month and a week, it was parked next to the caravan, the car was fine because the van rolled away from vrs so all was good, just had to collect my stuff from the field that had blown through/over the fence, lol

I'm confused. Why did they need to change the whole roof panel - the problem was at the part at the back where the spoiler sits correct?

They didnt. They changed the spoiler.

Hes saying what theyd do if it did land on the roof, as i said it would be much worse if it did.
