Oil pick up pipe? Part number?

Featured Replies

Hey just after some advice on the oil pick up pipe to the turbo? Ive had a new cambelt and water pump fitted as I didn't really have any history from when it was done by the last owner.

I've read somewhere there's a oil pipe to the turbo that gets easier blocked after time and starves the turbo?

Can anybody link me to one to buy, part number or even where it's located!

03 octavia vrs estate thanks!

There's a sticky thread at the top somewhere with hundreds of part numbers. It's in there somewhere, as is the sealant used for refitting the sump.

Just get an air line on it and blast it out.!

I did mine and its fine

Do you mean the turbo oil feed pipe or the oil pickup that blocks in the sump?, oil pick up pipe is about £9 from skoda dealer, and part number is in sticky thread as mentioned. These block up quite a lot for certain types of driving, yet others dont seem to get the problem.

As it can cause a lot of damage, and it only involves dropping sump, most people change after about 5 years in the car depending on your mileage.

I pulled all the guase out of my pick up so it can't get blocked again as even after I blasted it with an air line, the guase looked not to my liking!

I blasted the turbo feed and return oil lines with pressurised air aswel for good measure

This should be all you need apart from oil and filter -

So you didn't think that perhaps the gauze was there for a good reason then? :wonder: :giggle:

Well aware of that thanks.. But regular oil changes and no problem

The guase is hat causes all the issue here in my mind

Only thing I would say here is that in view of how easily our plastic dipstick tubes self destruct and that normally some bits end up in the sump, then this may be risky. But if you're ok with that then it's your car at the end of the day.

Worse case scenario swap the engine out and new in on a Saturday but at least before that happens she won't be starved of oil like  a lot of them have been, will be or are currently without their owners knowing :-)

Thank you! Is it worth changing the the turbo oil feed pipe too? Does this get blocked to?

Really depends on how the car servicing was previously really. if the pickup when you change it looks real bad and the sump is full of sludge/crap, then probably yes, if its just average dirty, then if you feel the need blow it through with an air line - disconnected at both ends obviously.

I would add that most of us stop at the pickup change as we know the service histories of our cars. The main thing is use a good quality oil and change it at regular intervals.

Isnt the sealent supposed to be mega expensive?

It is, but there again it is good stuff. I've also used a product from ECP who's name I cant remember at the moment, but is reasonable price too..

Even Dow Corning high temperature gasket sealant is expensive stuff. Often, stuff costs good money for good reason. ;)

OEM sealant is sick expensive, about 20 pouds

I use for few years Victor Reinz sealant and is very high quality
