VAG Group Comparison

My 52 plate A3 TDi 130 Sport is amazingly beautifully built. I am stunned by it every time I sit in it and drive it and my last car was a BMW E46 3 series. I paid just short of

But that's just the point. They aren't the same price! I'm looking at cars that have the same engine and gearbox' date=' and although I'm not entirely certain I would have thought the 2-zone climatronic unit was the same too and probably a whole load of the buttons. The A3 is also 2wd like the Octavia. Where it could have been better was basically down to interior trim, maybe the stereo (although the Octy had a changer and the Audi didn't), and the suspension set-up. Is it really worth the extra?

My audi was a similiar price to the same aged PD octy. so yes the were approx the same price!

the A4 has better trim, seats, stereo, alloys, faster, aircon is better, looks better IMO;) it has 4wd

if you think audi and skoda are the same thats upto you, why would i have bought an audi then? i must be thick and have too much money and be totally unaware of any driving experience i have

ive owned a skoda and im no badge snob. i know a bit about cars and driving and living with the A4 is nothing like the octy was, Lozgti expressed his opinions very well and he now owns a skoda ;)

Agree entirely that there is a tendency to "support" the car you are driving but the Which survey is on questionnaires filled out by owners on number of breakdowns' date=' faults etc. So it is not necessarily about "supporting" one car over another - just reporting the facts. Or maybe Skoda drivers were more willing to lie. :):)

It appears that the size of the survey ensures that the results are statistically significant - i.e. very likely to reflect the breakdown/fault rates as a whole.[/quote']

i can only comment on the ones i have owned or my family has, how many people admit they drive a crap car?

im sure car enthusiasts put up with more and still think the car is good and may not give an unbiased view

Well, hell, I'd have taken the car with the better spec if they were the same price :) But looking at the price of new cars, the Audi A3 and the Skoda Octavia are so far apart. I'm not saying I think they're the same. I'm just wondering who'd pay for the extra when it both costs more money and gets you less toys. And I'm talking about the A3 here. The A4 is just a whole level up. The A4 I think of alongside the 3-series or maybe a Jag. Seriously, if I could have gotten a TDi A4 for the money I paid for my car, I'd have ripped the guy's arm off! And the new A4 is pretty purdy too :D

Maybe we should try and get a lineup at a meet or something, let people decide for themselves. Afterall, no one should care what I think but me :D

Peace

J
