Fitting Xenon bulbs / kit to Octavia II

Featured Replies

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I'm struggling to find anything about the subject.

Has anyone fitted an aftermarket xenon bulb kit to a mk2 (dipped beam)? If so what were your results like?

I used to have an E46 BMW and fitted the said kit to that and got varied results. The lenses seemed to throw a strange shape of light onto the road. Obviously the MK2 has projector type lenses in it and I'd like to know if the light thrown was very similar to the standard halogen bulbs but whiter (depending on the K rating) or whether the light was distorted.

Also, when fitting the kit does it throw up any fault codes on the dash etc?

Finally, there's loads of kits on eBay, does anyone have any other suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

As my mk3 will be here in a month I will be offering a swap on my bi-xenon headlights for a set of std headlights.

The are fitted with genuine Hella (Hella make the std headlight) E55 bixenon projectors std in some Mercedes.

They are so much better than just having xenon on dipped beam plus will be just fit and go (headlights take 2 secs to change)

Why have xenon when you can have bi-xenon :-)

They are D2S 5000k bulbs and 55w ballasts

As per the thread you have linked to; Londoncolour on ebay for the kit. Non-canbus one. 4300k is the best.

It all fits inside the light then get someone to code the car to xenons with VCDS.

The beam pattern is very good on the Octavia. I also leave mine 'flattened' for continental use all the time which means the beam is completely flat with no flick up to the side.
