EGR valve / ECU?

Featured Replies

My mk2 vRS Octavia broke down with the glowplug light flashing and engine lost power and would not restart. I had it superchipped 18 months ago, It's now been with the garage for past 2 1/2 weeks, being taken to skoda dealership on Thursday. After changing the EGR valve it still would not start, so they removed ecu and sent for testing but ECU specialist they used was unable to test this ecu. Has anyone got any comment on why this occurs? and what I should be looking at for the cost of repair?

If you want them to carry out a repair they need to know what is what with the ECU and what Software Enhancements have been applied.

No point messing about with Hardware & Mechanicals if the Control Box is causing a problem.

Best get estimated costs from them, just for the diagnosis in the first place.

Best get it back to your superchips dealer IMHO

Skoda will wash their hands of it.

FWIW when the EGR was changed, they did align the flap motor at the garage didn't they?

If not you're probably not going to get very far.

Skoda or as it is, the Skoda Dealership Garage will not automatically wash their hands of it if its a paying job.

Someone will present a bill for the work done if they do work. even if that is just for the EGR Valve replacement & the diagnosis.

It is obviously not a job being covered by Warranty, well not Skoda UK's Warranty.

??

Did it get moved from the Garage that had it for 2 1/2 weeks to a Skoda Dealership under the thought it might

be covered by some warranty?

I assumed warranty, at which point I think skoda would see a mapped ECU and most likely say good luck mate.

Just realised it's a vRS TDI not a vRS, so I guess I'd ask if you've reconnected all the cables that were on the EGR/fhousing below it and not missed any off.

If the connector is lose or not fitted, then the flap won't open and you'll not be combusting anything.

Thanks all for your comments.......It's not a warranty job... I would have hoped the garage it was at has done everything correctly, will have to wait and see what Skoda comes up with...
