not a happy chap :(

Featured Replies

went out for a drive and my driver side mirror got taken off by a woman driver :( then she tryed to drive away so i had to chase her down and she had the cheek to say it was 50/50 lol my side of the road was clear and she was passing a parked car on her side at speed, didnt even slow down to pass :(

What was the outcome? Bloody women drivers!

This happened to my grandad and the bloke tried to get away but he chased him and caught him lol! The guy admitted liability and paid over £300 for a new wingmirror

So the obstruction was on her side which ment she had to come onto your side? Clearly her fault, suppose over a wing mirror it's not worth going through the insurance but invest in a dash came. The amount of people on here that have said they should of got one and waited too long and it happens.

Damn! That really is a pain in the rear end. What course of action are you taking?

yeah she moved over to my side of the road and she had her kid in the car so i didnt really wonna argue with her i just told her to slow down next time and left it at that , atleast it was only a mirror it could of been worse

Atleast it was only a mirror it could of been worse

Correct, get yourself a dashcam ;)

If the dumb ho had taken out one of my mirrors then

you can be sure I'd be claiming for it. Glass alone for mine is

200 quid never mind the LED indicator light, arm, casing, motors and spraywork.

You can sue someone for such a cost in small claims court, all you have to do is replace the mirror and send her the bill, when she doesn't pay you issue a small claim summons (cheap), she then has to turn up and lie under oath if she wants to stick to her story, it helps if you take a snap with your phone at the time clearly showing your right of way even if she runs off.

Like LGM said, get yourself a dashcam. I got one after I hit a car side on that had shot out of side street in front of me. Driver got out of the car shouting "That was your fault, you lunatic". Cheeky sod lol

Glad you're not injured in any way

whats a decent dash cam ? and what kind of prices are they ? might have to get one just incase, hopefully not but you never know with the way people drive these days

There are occasionally group buys for dashcams on here.

Member Bossfox has run a few iirc.

Did a quick eBay search and found these (link below). The prices and recording quality differ. The one I got was a cheapo thing, and not the best recording quality, but you could tell who was at fault in the event of an accident :)  Sadly, mine doesn't appear to be on the market any more.

No group buys these days as we have a sponsor selling cameras now. I think they're called Smart Cam Direct.

Yup, the only damage I've ever sustained in over 9 years of owning my vRS; woman in Mini Cooper swiped my wing mirror then promptly sped off, cost me £170.  I slowed down to a crawl to let her safely pass, but she was unable to steer through the gap at the speed she was going.  So unnecessary, and expensive too.

Such is the way with modern mirrors with indicators, heating, electric movement and auto-dimming.

Freelander took the door mirror clean of Mrs Fox's Yeti.

Bill was around £400 all in by the time it had been colour coded and stuck on.

Yes, I used to do group buys as I was getting a large number for work (100+) and so was getting some good prices.

But since then we got a forum sponsor and it's not good forum etiquette to undersell a forum sponsor paying to advertise so I gave the group buys up.

They've come in quite handy... :giggle:

Richard, which Blackvue is that?

The cheaper 380.

It does what we need, so we don't pay a premium for fancy features like wifi.

surely if u chased her and got her no. plate you could start by reporting her for leaving the scene of an accident and go from there ?
