I have to change the rear nearside light cluster on a 63 plate Fabia SE Hatchback (SWMBO).

 

Is this a straightforward job and are there any gotchas that I need to look out for?

No hidden traps at all.

Unscrew the unit from the inside using a coin and once done give the unit a wiggle and it will pull away from the car.

Disconnect the wiring harness, plug and play, and fitting is the reverse.

All I need now is some dry weather  

I've had mine off a couple of times, once to replace the unit and the other for a deep clean (yes obsessive I know!).  One piece of advice is if you are having to remove the entire unit is to label up the wires and bulbs as I didn't think it was obvious where each went when putting it all back together.  The Fabia (at least the vRS) doesn't have a single harness connection to disconnect which I could see.

 

The unit can be a bit stiff to come away but it is just held in by the one screw and a couple of locator pieces.  The screw for mine was very tight so had to use a large screw driver with a rag over the end to prevent damaging the plastic head on the screw.

On the monte there is a single harness :-)
