Genuine roof bars

Featured Replies

Evening all, do the Skoda bars come in black steel or alloy?

Does anyone else run bars? Care to share a pic?

I run Thule on mine when I need them, they are black steel and fit just like the oem ones do - in fact I often wonder if Thule make for oem. I can lock the "feet" to the roof so less chance of them going walkies in the car park.

Check out ebay, as feet fit several different cars, by buying as individual lots on ebay they went From £139 retail to £45 all in. Just an alternative to think on as they look almost identical. Sorry don't have a pic I'm afraid.

Originals are black. Have a set but not on the car.

What feet are the same as the Octavia? I've never paid more than £30 for a second hand set of bars, but can't seem to find any cheap ones for this car :(

Those feet/fixings, do they fit into the attachment bits of the roof? The picture I've found shows them as clamping round the door shut/roof

No, it is important that you dont leave out the xt fixpoint  bit when you search.

basically, the bars lock into the 753 foot bit after being set at the correct width measurement, the fixpoint bit bolts to the foot, and they then slot into the little covered holes in the roof mouldings.

You then tighten the bolt on the fixpoint which secures it to the roof, fit the lockable covers to the 753 bit and you are good to go.

You only set the width once, you remove them by simply loosening the bolt on the fixpoint.

can i ask why you need genuine?

When I was looking at this, most of the non genuine one clamped in the door shut rather than use the correct fittings in the roof. Thule were the only non genuine ones that I found at the time that did this.

ill send you the link for the ones i bought they are perfect!

I got them from ebay, use them all the time.

cheers paddy

the ones i have use the correct fitting in the roof under the little black caps.

cost about £40 posted brand new! I never understand people who spend £200 odd on roof bars, more money than sense. Not saying thats you, just in general.

paddy

I only spent £45, but I know exactly what you mean.

My ones that have the proper fixings cost me a whopping £10 off ebay, fitted them a couple of times but haven't had the opportunity to use them lol

Yep, that's the bargain winner in my book.

Here you go buddy,

I went to get a fence panel for a mate today so thought i would take a snap of the car with the bars on:

and in full action on the way to cadwell park.. ( has a invisible removable tow bar BTW (westfalia genuine and the bar fits into the tool kit that sits in the spare wheel, cant stand a tow bar that you can see all the time)
