Combi power boot

Featured Replies

Did a quick search but couldn't find the answer...

I assume the power boot opens and closes via motor? All the you tube clips are just opening and the brochure is crap.

I could pop to the dealer but I think he's has enough of my detailed questions!!

Yes the power boot uses a motor to open and close, the car also beeps as the boot opens.

Cheers pal.

Beeping? Really? Can that be disabled (without destroying it)?

Beeping can be turned off in Vcds but I find it quite handy on mine

I have read somewhere that you can but it's not a simple on/off thing in the car.

I don't mind the beep, makes people look when you load up the shopping!

Why's that a good thing?

Only problem with the beeping is that it can be a little obtrusive if you leave early in the morning and you live in a bungalow (bedroom near car) like I do :)

With power closing can the boot be closed/opened manually?

not advised as you'll wreck the motor but it can be moved manually

Bit of fun, that's all...

The beeping can easily be turned on and off. It is a very quiet beep, unlike in other cars. I still cannot get used to it so I turn it off. I prefer to hear just the mechanical/electric sound of locking/unlocking.

About force opening and closing the tailgate, I wouldn't advise and it is also underlined in the car manual. I have started to like the electric tailgate, you have a button near the gear stick to open it (very good), which however does not work to close it back (not so good)...

I have the electric boot on my private car (508 GT) you can't (may not open) manualy I presume the same on O3

The only time I can open the boot non electric is when my trailer is attached as than the tow hook electrics are in use

and the boot may not open due security to touch trailer or bike stand, also the back proximity sensors are disabled

because no functionality when trailer attached.

On O3 the tailgate can be opened and closed from the button on the dash and keyfob with some modifications in VCDS

it is not programmed for security legislation in europe.

Power closing via the key fob/button can be enabled using VCDS.

Cheers folks.

Is there a list of places who will make VCDS changes for a charge and is it safe? Reason being mine will be a lease so I don't want to risk damage....
