1.8T Gearboxes

Featured Replies

Hi all,

At my local scrappy a untouched octavia 1.8t elegence estate has just come in, not sure on the milage yet but....

My VRS is going to have a clutch transplant next weekend. And my box has a whine in 1st no crunches seems fine.

Will the 1.8t box from a elegance fit or is it the same as the VRS box? Just thinking as i know the bloke their i may do it while its off and do an oil change etc...

advice would be good.

Cheers

Paddy

You would really need the gearbox code stamped in the case to be 100% sure. I would have thought it would fit, but would have different gear ratio's and possibly a different final drive ratio,

Gearbox code for a vrs should be - EHA  02JP so you could use that as your base line. I'm only taking an educated guess here, but would think it is an 02JF box in the elegance

you want the EHA gearbox which has the 02j transmission that the vrs uses

I have an 1.8T elegance and the gearbox is 02J and is the same with VRS.Looks same, linkage is the same....etc

I have just checked this out on elsawin, and the box in the elegance will have a different final drive ratio, as well as different 4th and 5th gear ratios. Unless you are real desperate, I would look for an EHA box

as above, it will fit and it will be fine, but ratios will be a bit shorter.

But let's check it....

I have 80km/h  in 5th gear at 2000rpm

and 100km/h in 5th at 2500 rpm

and 120km /h in 5th gear at 3000rpm

somewhere i have a list of all the different codes and ratios, il dig them out tomorrow if i remember.

ARX = 1.8T Elegance 4x4 estate gearbox for info ?

Sorry, don't understand the post, do you require ratio info?.

so noone is telling what speeds the VRS runns at 2000 ,2500 and 3000rpm in 5th gear to compare?

Bit of a ballache, especially when we work on mph. ;)

I'll do the math :giggle:
