The one thing we've both got in common is the n249 bypass so it might be a vac leak somewhere

Mine was like this before the bypass mate so it's not that

  • Sounds very MAF to me dude!! Might be worth putting one on it I no they are expensive but it might make the world of difference and better running etc? But make sure it's a genuine VAG one! Cheap on

  • What recirc valve have you got on? It might be sticking- I'm actually in the same boat as you- like the clappers one minute then next pull it's flat but zero faults. I'm just about to go and pop the c

  • this car is breakin me finacially new maf are expensive

It was the same before- scrap that. Been out and simply cannot get the MAF values above 100 or so- should be up around 175 but is the MAF value low because the wastegate is open thus turbo not sucking in more air or is the MAF goosed and feeding incorrect data to the engine thus limiting the boost...chicken or the egg

She's broken by the sound of it (maf I mean)

her in doors is as well ;)

Torque was also giving a funny error on the lamda (rich to lean switching too slow) but I think it's a false positive as I checked the lamda voltage readings against charts and all seems fine and reading AFR just fine as well.

Well, sod buying a brand new sensor this month as I've just had some good news so think I'll order and run a cheapo ebay one for few months (if it lasts that long) then get a Bosch once funds are more fluid

Cheap ones fail in days Infact I've seen them dead out the box might aswell drive car as it is !!

Logging the value while driving will tell you 1000% if it's goosed

You seem to be over complicating a very easy fix ??

Who the bloody hell do you think you;re talking to mate? I'm just come in from trying to log data and fault find the damned problem and you say I'm over complicating a fix when I still am not 100% sure it IS the MAF yet.

Jesus wept man!

I reckon it is maf buddy... I'm going to hold out until I can afford the spare coin for a proper Bosch one.

I've seen one's on eBay for like 20 quid but my past experience has put me off I think.!

Prob a better idea to buy a known good working one off a breaker rather than an eBay one

I was thinking about popping to the breakers on Monday, there's a dedicated VAG one called veedubbers not overly far from me. Been meaning to pop through for a while and as good an excuse as any to have a look see

Sounds like a good bet. Lucky you lol...

Euro parts do Bosch maf for 122 quid but you get 30 back for your old one

That's a bit more affordable, the missus just dropped THE bombshell on me on this morning so need to start pinching pennies on the motors :(

I was talking to you

No need to get the hump I'm trying to save you spending hours and £££ but if you can't listen to advise then I won't comment

I've worked on and have owned more of these cars than I care to think about and do not not think I'm talking from experience when I say run a log with Vcds

5 mins work and will tell you the exact fault !!

But then you seem to like going around in circles but saying you don't wanna buy a genuine one but a cheap one that is known to be crap and again you will be in the same place in a few weeks time

Seems pointless to me buddy

But anyway congrats on your news

Lol and your 38

Really oh dear never mind idiot

So you ran a live data log post it up then lol

Might need to start growing up a little now your finally having a kid !!

I've already gone through the data thankyou- How else do think I have the conclusions I have? Go on smart arse- next comment please. Those who can do- those who can't buy from someone else with a slave unit

You also seem to think I've said something about the workings of the engine lol

Nope just said about live data logging ;-)

Also never said anything about the workings of the ecu or any part of that lol

Again all I said is to do a live data log

You seem to be making up **** and running your mouth as if I give a monkeys lol

Another forum warrior

So from your data you would know if your maf is broken then ?? Post up your log so others can see what to look for

No one being a smart arse apart from you

All I said is people need to log before spending money changing parts that all lol

Oh dear oh dear oh dear

Yeah agree

Read your posts sad really insults for no reason never mind shame we are not all as clever as you

Over and out enjoy the forum ;-)
