right guys, can we put a stop to any bickering or whatever petit squabbles you have going on, and also do not circumvent the swear filter.

  • Sounds very MAF to me dude!! Might be worth putting one on it I no they are expensive but it might make the world of difference and better running etc? But make sure it's a genuine VAG one! Cheap on

  • What recirc valve have you got on? It might be sticking- I'm actually in the same boat as you- like the clappers one minute then next pull it's flat but zero faults. I'm just about to go and pop the c

  • this car is breakin me finacially new maf are expensive

Hello problem fwend- just letting you know I popped on different MAF yesterday (20 quid down the scrappy and even did it for me there and then lol) and all seems good but I haven't logged anything yet but can hear the turbo working properly again and obviously feel it.

Mate thats good news.. im gunna try maf and report back :-)

Scrap that. Been out loggin and still there- cold like scalded cat, hot like warm gerbil. My money is on the N75 now. Once hot enough it's soaked up a fair bit of heat and it's resistance is changing. Need to test it but multimeter goosed...grrrrr

Dave plugged it in tonight and my maf is completely goosed!! Values don't move one tiny bit.. sits at zero point something!!! :-o

On top of that, lambda sensor is goosed...

And intermittent missfire cylinders 1 and 2...

Can anyone shed some light on the missfire issue please?? As the car has  had new plugs and new coilpacks under recall just done about a week or so ago!

So all in all, I haven't had a good night I'm afraid!!

Burn the fackin thing I'm sayin :-/

Amazing what a plugin brings up ;-)

Check wiring for coil packs normally heat damaged might need replacing bud

Only thing left on the miss fire front is the loom being a bit heat damaged isn't it?

And absolutely 0 readings from the maf? Surely if the sensor is goosed you'd have some readings but very low or just all over so that could be the loom as well.

Not having much luck mate, not much at all.

No, maf reading 0.14 and went up a fraction but Dave said its buggered

What part of th  loom am I checking Clive?

And how do I fix? Change whole loom or cut and replace with suitable wire??

Check all the wiring loom ontop of the rocker

You can buy a new loom and splice it in

Good because I do not want to have to change whole engine loom.

I would much prefer to throw a match in and go back to old bmw's :-/

Had a thought on the coilpack wiring..

What about 're routing the wiring and rotating the coilpacks 180 degrees? So that that part of the loom is away from the hotter part of the engine..?...

It seems daft to me that they would route it over the hottest part of the friggin engine (I.e, above the turbo and manifold) stupid fackin Germans!!!

Just a thought......

I think it would be better in insulate the wiring somehow to stop it going hard, possible wrap it in some heat reflective material.

haha i'm on the same boat as you mate! It's quite funny really, ever since i diagnosed the lambda sensor being kaput, it seems like i'm getting all this power loss going through the gears, and it feels like the engine just isn't firing! Like you were saying, it's only an intermittent thing! Usually when the engine is cold, or if the car has been off for a short period of time. It comes and goes as it pleases! I haven't had the computer plugged in to see exactly what's going on yet.

I'm still waiting for the lambda sensor to be delivered, so will find out soon if that's one of the problems.

Also, how do you go about the coilpack recall? Seeing as i'm on an island, where there are no Skoda dealers, it would cost £130 just to get the ferry, then drive 50+ miles to inverness. Aaahhhh!!

Im not sure my 2013 fabia vRS DSG (yes a year old) that I collected only 2days ago isnt having the same difficulties..

The car doesnt seem to pull away like in test drive e.g. once break released doesn't barely pull away as i remember and it has lag before it builds up any speed.. then all of a sudden the turbo kicks in..

The ride also seems bumpier than when I test drove it (bought the car I test drove)

Its strange...

My MK II isnt modded...

Feeling like gonna have to take into my local dealer..

My car was having all these problems when my brake light switch was a dud. Just throw that into the thread incase its not been mentioned.

I've changed the brake light switch mate,, in fact take a look on the other thread "what has  you done to your vrs" and look at my post in there :-o

The question in my case is, what "haven't" I changed?!! :-(

And vagcom gave the answer... only things I haven't changed are the buggers that have gone!

Lambda and maf

On the 're routing of the coil pack loom.... It's a no go. Had a look this morning and there isn't enough room for the coil packs to be rotated 180 degrees and have the plugs in. So bugger  that idea

Oh and on top of that, around the base of my injectors is wet on 1, 2 and 4 I think so it appears my injector seals are kaput, and I wouldn't mind betting they need refurbing aswel.!!!

Ive seen maf can be spray cleaned by a cleaning product which could resolve certain issues (so long as u dont physically touch the 3wires inside). If the signal being sent to the engine is incorrect any number of things could have gotten into the maf which is causing the car to mis fire and the power not to be there...

Thats the info I found from youtube along with how to remove the maf and spray it (seems straight forward) but im not an expert in these things...

My car seems to have some power issues.. pressing the accelerator it seems to take a secind to build up speed.. tgen all of a sudden theres a big increase in speed but it isnt smooth...

Ive already cleaned it mate.. twice.

Using electrical contact cleaning spray... it made a temp difference at first but this time I think it just had enough and spat its dummy!

Prob the original maf so long overdue changing anyway and now no amout of cleaning will bring it back
