Wheel spacer confusion

Featured Replies

Hi All thinking of fitting some wheel spacers but reading some topic on this sight eveybody seems to say that hub centric is a must. I want to fit them for cosmetic reasons only but think the cost of hub centric makes it a no goer. any advice welcome .

I have 15mm hub-centric ones on the rear and have had no issues at all. I tried some thinner normal ones on the front when I had spacing issues with my brake calipers and it threw the balance out immediately. Made it horrific to drive at anything over 40. Took them off and threw them away and ground the caliper down instead. So from my experience, hub-centric are a must.

Totally agree, hub centric are a must, and personally I wouldn't go less than 12 mm.

thanks for that info . Can anyone tell me the dimensions ie. the bore size and the stud pitch.

5x112

57.1 cb iirc

Et 51 (18" zeniths)

Hubcentric are a must and worth the extra few quid.

As above I'd always stick with hub centric.

Took all the advice given and got 20mm hubcentric spacers - just fitted and pleased with the result. Now what about the front wheels, thy seem to be closer to the wheel arch. any advice on tickness of the spacers and how will they effect steering angles.

How low is the car, and what is the space between the wheel and arch? I think hubcentric spacers start at 12mm, so that would be the minimum to go for. Shouldn't really affect steering angles but could put a bit more pressure on CV joints etc with the wider track

H&R has 10mm hubcentric spacers...

I think they also do an 8mm but don't quote me on it.

You don't want to go to mad on the front.

I personally wouldn't go near 8 or 10mm hubcentrics. I used 15mm on the rear of my vRS and left the front without.

For the naive amongst us, what is the problem of going lower, so long as they are hubcentric?

I've just ordered a set of 5mm 57.1-73.1 hubcentrics to try to clear my calipers

I've got 8mm H&R hubcentric spacers and there is absolutely nothing wrong with them at all on either OE wheels or some aftermarket.

Couldn't fit my TDs in conjunction with them though.
