Called into skoda today and they checked my vin number....

 

Booked in for wed at 2.00  to have the coil packs changed under recall

 

Well happy with that. Welcome news after the amount of bad luck I've had with the car... hopefully this is the start of some good luck with it

So if I was to call my local dealers up and just ask them to check my vin to see if the cars been called back and it hasn't,  would they do mine under recall.. and would they still do it if my cars got mods.. :think:

and mods doesnt come into it mate, thats non of their business,, aslong as you have declared to your insurance thats all good

 

but skoda are only changing your coil packs, they are not there to judge on mods ect

I've got trade insurance so I've no need to declare mode with my insurance

 

Why I asked is because some places don't do certain jobs if mods have been added to the car..

give em a bell mate, it would speed the call up if you have your vin number to hand...

I had mine in the other week. All they needed was the reg and came back and said "Yes is still has an outstanding recall for this issue" (Even though I know it has been in before and had them all done). Took it in and they checked all 4 coils and replaced the one on number 4 cylinder which was causing a missfire.

can you only have it done under recall if it needs new coils?

They have to change any coil pack that is an old batch!

So if all 4 are L devision for example they all need changing not just one problem coil pack

Yes, take the connector off the coilpack and check the model number.

What model should i be looking for..?

Look for the long list of numbers/letters and what it ends in.  Itll be a letter.
