Basically I had a pipercross filter which seemed alright to me so long as you kept it clean.

However i had issue with turbo blade being damaged last year, and although the turbo specialist found a small lump of that carbon crap that builds in the intake and assumed thats what caused the damage, I have been made paranoid by a few posts on here about after market filters.

so 2 weeks ago i bought and fitted the standard paper filter to give it a go and have to say car feels crap, it judders when it first kicks in now as if its struggling for air and seems to be down on power in low rev range.

Has anyone else had this happen because now i am looking into getting a cone in the box but dont want to pay the prices I have seen.

The car probably needs to adjust to the new filter. The ecu is just relearning. Id give it a few days or a big run

Standard OEM filter won't be causing the judder at best guess the MAF will require cleaning and also logging with Vagcom to make sure its in range

 

have you had the turbo replaced at the same time as fitting the new oem filter?

Disconnect battery for about half an hour and then reconnect. 

This should effectively reset the adaptive ECU.
