2011 vRS headlights - black

Featured Replies

It follows on from another 'smart arse' thread of his actually. Where he was quite abrupt and rude to start with i found.

Friendly bunch on here... For those who tried to provide an answer, thanks!

To the 'no answer', angry, unhelpful hijacker, I ride a fast motorbike with 55w bulbs but have more intelligence than to push it to the limit in the dark so probably won't be needing your advice.

Bet his bike is the cg125 he alluded to, but thinks it's a blade......

Hows 100mph the limit? I can see just fine. That was the point i was tryna make. The blackpack light cant be that bad, surely?

The image im getting is a candle behind a reflector lense.

I dont mean to be off with you mate, just previous threads n that. Hes always right and as i said above.

I have have been in a bad mood n felt like sayin what i thought haha.

I do apologise :)

So you have a vrs with black pack i take it? (I cant see because im on phone).

Just get a non blackpack vrs if your that 'fussy' about lighting.

I like good lights, but iv got a fabia with the best lighting set up.

If your that bothered about lighting you should of done some research before you spent your £15k.

I dont know, i really dont care. Just sick of hearing how nothing is good enough for you.

Stick some spotlights on, i really dont care.

You obviously don't read too well & maybe have difficulty understanding? WHO TAKES A CAR OUT ON DEMO IN THE DARK. HAVE YOU EVER?

I think your just an argumentative sort of guy that can never see the other persons point of view.

For your information I have enquired about reverting back to earlier Fabia headlights ( you know, the ones you can see with), but the supplying dealer tells me it would invalidate my 5 year warranty. Cost isn't an issue - if I could do it I would.

Anyway if you took the trouble to read my previous posts CAREFULLY, you would see that I am happy with present setup (Osram Rallye 80w). I was simply pointing out my experiences in this matter, & how experimenting with diffent bulbs & a HID kit hadn,t really helped. Just because YOU are happy with YOUR HEADLIGHTS doesn,t mean that me & the other 100 or so posters on this subject has to be!

Why did you not test drive it in the dark? I feel youve let yourself down.

Why did you not test drive it in the dark? I feel youve let yourself down.

This is going to be my last post on this subject, because posting to you is like walking through treacle. I was going to say it's like sh4gging a hedgehog (I'm shure you know the punchline), but it would probably be censored.

Why didn't I test drive it the dark?

1) As asked before have you ever done a test drive in the dark?

2) I purchased the car in late May when its light till well after 9pm - my dealer doesn't stay open that late.

3) anybody with any common sense (obviously excludes you) would test drive in daylight especially as this car was a demonstrator. I was interested in defects that would only be apparent in daylight, never even occurred to me that the headlights would be so poor when everything else was so good.

Anyway I feel this is getting personal now and is detracting from the OP's question.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one

1. I bet the hedgehog cant tell your sh*ggin it. Just like another pr*ck in its backside.

2. Get yourself down to the 24 hour dealers, obviously. (Now whos got no common sense)

3. Im glad youve taken the time out to get so upset about the matter.

I've looked at my sidelight bulbs and they are wired up to the headlight but never come on.

As anybody got a wiring diagram for the headlights.

Ant

I had a read through and couldn't find a reply to this message.

You questioned was answered in a previous thread. But short and sweet answer is:

On some vrs (mainly the early 1's think) they are wired in and can be activated via VAG-COM but by activating them you lose the drl coming on as a sidelight. I can't give any info on what blocks need changing thou

I've asked the dealer to adjust the lights to the maximum legal height prior to collection of our new furby but I'm not holding out much hope it will help....

Even adjusted correctly, they're not the best lights in the world, I agree.  Adequate, but not good - IMHO.  What seems to highlight it to me is the fact others are better, so when they come towards you, you lose visibility.  The majority of those driving around with badly adjusted lights aren't going to get theirs fixed - they can see just fine!

A bit more light would be much appreciated though.  I had considered forking our for a set of "Super Xenon + Extra" bulbs or similar, but feel it will only add a marginal benefit personally.  Done over 50k in the car now - through 2 winters - and will probably be changing it within a few months so I'm putting up with it.  Just drive a bit slower in the dark...

The vrs lights are marginally better in that main beam is decent. The first time my wife was in the car at night she commented on how little she could see and suggested I needed to clean the headlights. I pointed out they were spotless....

I fitted a 35W 5000K HID kit which improved things somewhat. I've now changed the bulbs to 35W 4300K which have brought the light output up to an acceptable level. I'm not sure how much additional drop in output the Monte dipping shutter creates though.
