56 plate vrs oil light plus various other glowing lights

Featured Replies

Got a problem with my 56 plate 2.0tdi pd vrs where I have a flashing oil light after about a minute with 2 beeps. But also rear fog light and battery light glow .. garage is telling me it's looking like a dash fault and may need a new one. Oil level and pressure have been checked and all well .. anyone had any similar problems like this or any ideas on a faulty dash ?

Hi Sam02

I've been swearing & tearing my hair out for weeks now, my 06 Octavia 2.0 DSG Elegance has displayed just about every combination of warning light imaginable.  Knowing that the battery was eight years old led me to beleive it was for the skip but it was turning the engine and starting it leading me to wonder if I was wrong, also the car seemed to be getting very damp inside condensation running down the screen on one occasion could the electrics be water logged,  This morning the engine stalled as I was deparking and failed to restart the breakdown company got me going and I went straight to the local battery supplier a new battery was fitted in minutes for £110 lo & behold all lights now extinguished and a previous fault in the Maxidot whereby lots of pixels lit up with an orange glow has disappeared, as I drove away from having the battery fitted the Wife admitted to having left the passenger door ajar through the Christmas New year holiday period.  The battery voltage was down to 11 Volts no load having stood overnight.

Thanks mate I have been toying with the idea of battery or alternator which is charging the battery fine. Maybe a new battery might be worth a try.

Anyone else have had any similar faults ?

We used to get an intermittent abs error. Had heard of spurious errors with dodgy battery so got a Bosch S5 096 from justcarbatteries. No probs since and with all the extra cranking power (780a instead of 540a), the car starts no problem.

I would think a battery is the way to go.

Had various faults on my previous Fabia VRS and my Octy PD170 with warning lights etc etc and clicking noises!! Both times its been the battery, get it changed pronto and see how you get on, cant hurt anyway if its never been done

Sounds like it could be the battery OP. If you can't measure the voltage through Maxidot, then get a meter on it and see what reading you get.

I did some work on my car yesterday and had the door open for some time. I got the low battery bong you get from the radio and also notice the car clicked on and off before it would fire. Mine's on a 07 and the battery has a 1K or 1Z part number so I am guessing it's the original and is probably about due for replacement.
