Windows Phone 8 app suggestions

Featured Replies

As per title.

I picked up a Nokia 920 today in Tesco on contract.

I like the phone but I've still to get to grips with the Windows OS.

Previous phone was an Android which was fine and I've got a Nexus tab but I was quite keen to try something new and the Nokia free mapping appealled to me.

Any suggested apps that are worth having.

I'm thinking along the lines of Uninstallers, application killers, network scanners, data blockers.

Free if possible but still worth knowing if they're paid for.

You should have had the Lumia Black update so try Nokia Beamer...

Yes did an update and I think that was there.

Quite possibly is said something like "we collect your information in order to..." I normally smash "No" at that point.

Win8 is equally good and awful. Hardly any junk unlike my last Samsung that came with about 12 apps you couldn't remove without rooting but the Win8 doesn't have a file browser and I've already had a video disappear via bluetooth. It's on the phone but you can't see where and you can't delete it.

You'll need Shrink Storage to clear up the temp files properly.

I'd also recommend Paperboy for news and headlines and Typeviewer means that you can view pretty much any file (was having an issue with .pdf email attachments).

Also, make sure you download your maps in HERE Drive+ so it'll work properly offline - they don't tell you that bit.

Other than that both my personal Lumia 820 and my work HTC Win Phone 8S are full of xbox live enabled games...

EDIT - for that video, have a look in music and video, then videos, then any sub directories in there.

Ta.

Downloaded maps the other day. Quite impressed with them so far, yet to try the sat nav.

I'm getting used to it now and liking it more. Still waiting on feckin TEsco to move my number over so I'm walking round with two phones right now.

The sat nav is spot on - I've found it better than the tomtom that I used to have.

I've yet to find a good RDP program yet which is a bit annoying but I'm sure one will appear at some point...
