Octavia Scout TDI Engine Issue

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've been driving a 2010 facelift Scout for 18 months with no issues until this week.

Put the car into a local garage for its Cambelt and full service last Friday and all was fine. But Wednesday about 5 miles into my journey car just warming up the engine light came on and the car went into safe mode. Limped it to a friends house where I turned off and started it again, engine light gone out and not in safe mode. So I continued on my way (about100miles) but with a slight misfire at 2000/3000revs. Went to come home and same thing happened, about 5 miles down the road engine light, safe mode. Turned it off started it all fine. Had about 1/4 tank left so filled it with so called super diesel. Have done another 400/500 miles but no engine light but still with this slight misfire and fuel economy has dropped.

Got back into garage to find out fault code and told its a 'intake' code.

Here's hoping someone has more idea than me, and might have some suggestion what it could be.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It sounds as though the cam change has upset  something either timing wise or loosining a connection as it was only done a few days before ? cheers - Stuart

I'd say cambelt is a tooth out IMO. Take it back and get them to do it properly!

Cheers for your help.

Put it back into the garage today and picked it up this evening. Apparently a loose turbo hose. Seems to drive much better and fuel economy has gone back up.

Shall let everyone know if I have engine light back on.
