Bad sound bearing ... or not ?

Featured Replies

4 months ago I started hearing typical "bad bearing sound" . Front right .

Sound disappears when I steer right. That confirm right side in my mind.

Was going for "did not hear that" since I probably will scrap car  this summer.

3 weeks ago I could not bear hearing this anymore ... also since it got worse.

Tried change right front bearing. No go since you seem to need a proper press tool to get old bearing out of socket.

Had a "one man garage" change it for a decent amount.

Same same  .... so it wasn't right front bearing. Now I consider options

1 Is it bearing front left or back right ?

2 Is it  CV joint right front ?

3 Anything else right front ?

4 Anything .....

I have checked for any gap on all wheels with car on lift. Also joints. Jerk in all directions. Can't find anything to go for.

Also spinning wheels by hand , no sound.

Sound is worse at around 50 miles/h

What do you think , could I misktake bad joint sound for this to me very typical  bad bearing sound ?

Tried driving full swing on stearing on parking lot forward/back, both directions. That did not give me any bad sound like if  joints is the problem.

Any idea please let me know. How to check bearings or joints.

From experience I don't totally trust I hear  the sound correct from front right. Still think it's from there though.

Not gonna stand for this horrible sound any more. Suffered enough already from trying to ignore it    ....   and my beautiful Skoda deservs better than ignore.

My car is a Year 2000 GLXI 1.6  250000 km

Thanks for feedback Russell. Not my case though, almost new winter tires. Also this is "metellic" sound. Like rambeling through the whole body of the car.
