So here I am!

Not sure what model to go for - looking to spend about £13k or so. I live in Scotland and though Snow can be an issue occasionally - it hasnt been for the last 2 years.

Anything I should watch for??

Are you sure your Missus hasn't just got the Badge Snobbery Syndrome!!

If she has, then your are into one hell of a sales job.

Take her out in any vRS and blow away those negative thoughts!!

So up there it's a 4x4- 2.0 TDI or 1.8 tsi,but a struggle on your budget of £13.0K

I've had 50 VW's in the last 16 years - a couple of years back we has an ASZ engine Fabia VRS with loads of mods.(thats where my post count came from!) Nothing to do with the badge at all. Just she wants something a bit more rough/tough as we also have a Labrador now and a 3rd baby on the way. She doesnt want anything too big as she is going to be its main driver. (I actually wanted a 2.0T Octavia VRS estate or a Superb Estate)

This is the one we were thinking about:-

That looks like a nice motor- good Full History?

Have you had a chat with the previous owner?

Ideal for the family and the Lab.( enough room for all bits and hound?)

Otherwise Octavia 4x4 Estate Or as you say Superb.

Hope the pregnancy goes well.

Enjoy whatever you end up with.

Best of luck.

Keith

You might be OK with a 1.8tsi.

When I was looking for a 1.8tsi 4x4 they started around £14,500.

But there were three with slightly more miles around the £12,000 figure so I made an offer and bought one of those.

He who dares... :D

The one in the link looks fine.

Not a great deal of bargains around as the Yeti just holds it's value too well!

Hoping to go and see that car on Saturday and have a quick drive of it. See what the Mrs thinks.

I've been looking more at 2.0TDi as our last 3 main cars have been diesel and I prefer them. (however the boy racer in me wants more power!)

Well... in all honesty we have a 1.8tsi 4x4, 170bhp 2.0 diesel 4x4 and the 1.2tsi front wheel drive DSG.

I can honestly say that in stock form I prefer the diesel as it's just a delight to drive with plenty of low down grunt.

Handy it's got a 2000kg towing capacity too compared to 1600 for the 1.8 petrol.

I only bought a petrol to make it go faster... as the diesel has far more tuning limitation.

The petrol is smoother, quieter and warms up faster.  But you have to work it harder to make progress.

The fuel economy hovers around 33mpg, on the same routes that the 170 diesel averages 47mpg...

So you will see a noticible difference in running costs if you did have a rethink and go for the petrol.

Looks good to me , let us know what you think to it?

Hey polo6n1600i we are selling our yeti and looking to sell it locally ! Il pm you

What has it been towing?

What makes you think that?

Because it has a tow bar! ;)

Haha!! Never even saw that!!! Wasn't really after a towbar. Hope it's a detachable one

Same colour scheme as mine (Storm Blue & Gobi Sand) which looks great in the flesh :sun:
