Pressure washer help...

Featured Replies

I'm after some expert advice and there appear to be plenty of detailing addicts on here.

I want to get into detailing to keep my new Octy VRS nice however here is my issue.

I live in a flat with a communal car park so getting a pressure washer is becoming a problem. I've had an idea tho and wanted to get some opinions.

I'm looking at a Karcher either K2 or K4. I'm thinking of running an extension lead from my flat for power and then using a suction hose into a large bucket or bin for the water supply.

Now is that a. A viable option and b. Can anyone think of a better idea.

Has anyone for any experience of this set up. Am I going to get good pressure and am I going to be running to and from the flat to fill up the bucket every 2 minutes.

PS whoever is responsible for the recent post about Sonax wheel cleaner. I'm about to lose my nuts when the Mrs finds out what I've spent on that website.

I fully sympathize with you, I live in a Ground Floor flat so can easily get power out but have no access to an outside water supply and my brother lives in a 3rd floor flat has access to an outside tap but of course a power supply is his issue.

I've even thought of a petrol one but they are just too expensive for casual use.

We would love a pressure washer and a snow foam lance but so far it appears to be a bridge too far.

I've no experience of supplying water from a static bucket how ever I would have thought that it would empty very quickly but I'd love to be wrong about this! I guess you could line up 3 or 4 buckets of water ready???

Let me know how you get on.

I've used ONR for a few years now and its top stuff. I have a plentiful supply of water, hose pipes and pressure washers but it's I only use them when you need to clean under wheel arches or under the car. I also have the opti coat treatment on my car which renders waxing redundant.

However you old traditional detailers will see all this as witchcraft lol!

Ebay have some 25litre water butts with hozelock connector and section of hoze. Now 25litres isn't going to last a hell of a long time but you can always top it up as the level gets low and anything larger than 25litre would be quite heavy to car up and down stairs.

This one is 25litre at £29.98 plus P&P and will go well with a K2 pressure washer with the lower flow rate. Best to stand a water up on something preferably four feet off the ground to get a little pressure and flow to the pressure washer and to leave the top of the butt off to allow airflow and so maintaining pressure.

I normally go to my brothers Sparkly as at least I can use a hose, I did look on detailing world though and that stuff sounds too good to be true, however nothing surprises me these days! :)
