Fuel filter TDI 1.9 BKC

Featured Replies

Hi I am sure this has been covered before I am looking at changing the fuel filter on my 06 octy 1.9pd 105 I have had contradicting reports about self-priming systems? Do I just pull out the old filter replace the filter and seals top up the housing with clean diesel and away I go or do I have to re prime? Some ppl say I need VAG coms???? Help guys?

Thanks Mike top man I thought that but lots of ppl saying different things. Changed filters on my old pug 406 loads of times and there was a priming bulb to re-fill the chamber just could not see anything on the Octavia

@Tguzzy

I previously had a 405 GLX estate and was going to go with a 406 to replace her but ended up with a '06 PD 105 estate.

How do you rate the Octavia against the 406?

I loved my 406 estate and went everywhere in it all over the uk it was amazingly reliable I only got rid because it was approaching 200k on the clock! lol I did nothing at all to it apart from the normal service items. It was the last of the non-HDi

Got rid with a tear in my eye and got a 1.9 PD 105 L & K now the only reason behind this was my wife has a 2.0PD Golf Tdi and she loves it and its been a good car just needed something bigger. I have never looked back love my Octavia and in truth all going well will keep it till the wheels fall off. The  standard of build quality on the Skoda is better than the golf and they are both beter than the 406 but the pug 1.9td engine was very good I hope the skoda works out just as good? My idea was were I live all the taxis are Octavia 1.9 so they must be good because they can not have the cars off the road.

The golf is going this year at some point? the wife has here eye on a A3TDI?????

@Mike

Well I am only at Teesside so close to you!, My 406 was sold to someone local and I still see it about, My wifes golf TDi is a 06plate and its only got 32K on the clock and the service book is full! all done at volkswerk in the boro, My octy has twice that miles and is far better built.

I have changed mine thrice without needing to prime and without issue.

However, do be advised there are three different filter housing used on the same engines. Just check the filter casing for the correct part number. It's marked on the side.
