screen capture app

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Is there an app or a away to capture information from a chat programme on my phone?

without going in to massive detail why I need this is there a way?

I use Tango to call and text my other half. I need to down load the conversation logs. Tango technical support say they have no way of doing this, but suggested taking a screen shot of the chat.

This would be very time consuming as I need a log of the last 6 months.

Any suggestions? I've tried connecting to the pc and seeing if there is a chat log file for tango but sadly there isn't.

Thanks for any suggestions

Mike

Last night I accidentally found my phone has a button on it which does this.

It takes screenshot and converts them to a file which goes into the gallery.

Are you sure yours doesn't have this feature?

If it's an iPhone, press the power button & the round square button at the same time.

This takes a screen capture.

Not sure this is exactly what you want though.

Mines a Samsung Galaxy S3. It does have a screen shot feature but I've got 6 months of logs to copy.

Also the other issue with this way is presenting it to who needs to see it. It's not printer friendly.

I'm not sure of any other way to get this information.

Can you highlight the text? Then copy it and paste into a printer friendly program?

sadly only each text on its own, so again every message would have to be copied, and 6 months will take hours to do.

Capturing this information to an easy printable source is very important.

I cannot believe that there is a file for the Tango app that holds this information :(

There are backup apps you can use for when transferring phone, I had to use one when I swapped to my new phone as I changed provider and the SIM wouldn't fit the new phone.  Just can't remember what it was called.  Not sure if it would readable in another programme, also I presume you want it in some format which is assumed to be not tampered with so that may be an issue.

Just a thought though!

Cheers MVL, I'll look on the play store to see if there is anything like that.

It can be "tampered with" but only to remove or "black out" to personal of information.

Hmmm had a discussion on this other day at work (with the police actually) regarding warning kids that dodgy selfies sent with SnapChat aren't always deleted.

Hmm it would appear that the only way to do it is screen shot this. Looks like a long weekend of work! D'oh!!

If all you need is a quick way of copy / pasting texts, maybe have a look at the Samsung kies app... Should let you connect to your phone from a browser on your pc via I address and gives access to all your texts - would be quicker to use the mouse to copy paste (and might even have an export function) rather than lots of screenshots.

I've had a quick go with the kies app.....not sure if its me being dim (which is quite possible) but it will not let me access the files. Back up yes, view sadly no.

I will have another go tonight.

So far only way I've got the history (only small part of conversations) is via screen shot. To say this takes alot of time is an understatement. This also will then need to be supplied via paper records which again in this format is not printer friendly.

It probably would help if I said why I needed this information but not sure if I want at the moment to post that on an open forum.

Some people who know me may know the reason.

Yeah !! Amazed you neve heard about screen shots or what??

download "es file explorer" and then look at all the directories on the phone and hope that your program stores its data in a format that is readable.
