Im sure some cars just have double sided tape holding them on?

  • Author

Iv got them (or very similar) fitted to mine.

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/300710-2011-blue-vrs-estate/#entry3634315

The back fits great but due to the curves on the front bumper it doesn't quite sit flush.

I like them btw

Thanks. How far does it protrude from the bumper on either side on the front?

P.S. Any ideas where I can buy a head unit like yours? Can't find them anywhere online... What is that model called?

Will do this if I decide against the surrounds. Thanks

Its at the bottom of the surround that doesn't sit flush. I'll take some closeups tonight and post them up for ya.

EBay - there are loads on there. Erisin is the make though. There are some really nice 8inch touch screen ones. It only cost 239quid.

I'm going to put my personal plates on soon and wanted to avoid drilling them as I did this before and now need a new set as the holes don't line up.

Are these Halfords tacky or do people like them?

Sorry austen its not the plate holder that looks tacky its personal plates that shouts TACKY....IMO.

It's not cracked, that's the split they put in it to allow the number plate to slot in.

Thanks Mrburdon123, they look great on your car, also a great colour and I like the carbon effect on the lower grille lip, is that a wrap?

As for the comment above about personal plates, that wasn't what I was asking for opinions on, it was the German style plate surrounds.

I know a lot of people don't like personal plates but I do and as long as you choice an appropriate one then they serve their purpose, they are personal to the owner. I like the German system, as I understand it through relatives they are issued and keep their plate for life and there is no charge to get a choice of which one you would like. They're plates also look good too, ours in the UK are poor IMO.

Ok ..Fair enuff.!

I like my personalised plate, a letter 2 numbers and then 3 letters, doesn't say a word or name, it's initials. I never have to remember another plate number and I never have to update my car pass for work :-)

Some plates really are tacky but I think they mean something to the owner. What gets me is the illegal spacing on the plates to make them appear something they are not.

To the OP.... Personally I'm not a fan of surrounds I use double sided trim tape. Have u looked at the briskoda surrounds? Again not my cup of tea but it's an alternative choice.

If you like it and it's affordable for you then why not. I like the old style that's why mine is T321 followed by my initials. The only reason I went for 321 is because 3 numbers tend to fall into the lower price band and I don't like 999 666 etc.

O.C.D. - I notice your header/title comment (or whatever they're called) but I disagree ;)

I like it and it's your money

As long as the car is a 13 plate or newer

At one time you couldn't make your car look newer than it is - does this still stand?

I've had the same plate 12 years now on many different cars and wouldn't be without

If you like it then go for it. :)

Yeah you cant perceive it to be newer than it is. Luckily mines a 13 plate :).

Hmm cheers guys. I just might. Gonna search for a few more yet though.

Ill stop about it on this thread though, i get the feeling my hijack isnt appreciated by all haha.

Cheers.

So yeah, nice numberplate surround that is... ;).

Keep us posted on what you go for if you do. Don't worry about Hijacking, I do it all the time!

Is not too far off topic, at least it falls to the right audience.

The plate looks OK, I'm more a fan of initials myself but a personalised plate is only there for one person really

Well then austen that's what would be know as "your opinion" so as i say YOU CAN'T DISAGREE WITH AN OPINION !!!

^^^^I often disagree with my own opinion but that's because there are so many voices in my head......for instance 2 of them are telling me to go to bed the other one wants to know if penguins have knees??

But you could disagree with my opinion or anyone's opinion for that matter, meaning that you can disagree with an opinion if you want to.

But an opinion can't be wrong......is that right?

Maybe it's that it should be respected (within reason) but it may be incorrect if it relates to something factual.

Where as it is my opinion that personalised number plates are not tacky. However O.C.D. may disagree and say they are tacky. Neither of us are correct as it is a matter of opinion however we both disagree with each other... I think, obviously I can only speak for myself.

EDIT: PS. It doesn't mean I don't respect O.C.D.'s opinion. Just that in my opinion that statement doesn't make sense.
