Further to the problem i am having with the starter in my Octy ie. it making a squealing noise on startup, does anyone know the approx. cost of a new starter motor? Am 40 miles away from my local Skoda dealer, and car is just out of warranty, so will probably take it to a local garage for them to take a look at it.

Feck me, didn't think they would be as much as that, I'll take it to my loca lgarage at some point to see what they say, problem only seems to be intermittent at the minute so not sure whether to wait til it gets worse or stump up the cash, I am literally broke due to insurance renewal this month and don't need/ cant' afford any faults turning up on the car for a while...

I believe that starters are available on exchange through dealers for around half the price of a new ones.

I had a new one fitted in August, £93.91 ex VAT. Fitted courtesy of TSR in Bridgwater. (Don't know if this was on exchange basis).
