110bhp asv timing!

Featured Replies

Well was messing about with vcds today and done a timing graph on the car and the timing is to far advanced Timing :88 Result :to far advanced, so was wondering what  should the timing be at number wise ? Also would this have an effect on not being able to get into the injector quantity as i can't seem to get into it or anything related to it

66 springs to mind... performance wise that is. just get it above the middle line on the graph. (and below the top line). bear in mind that the belt might stretch as it gets older and move the cloud lower.

i guess if i was to mechanicly adjust it i would have to turn the cam anti clockwise ?

exactly

Hmm, again I cant remember from when I did mine, but I think you are right (50/50 chance?). Its easy to slip too far. I did but it just doesn't start.

i remember something  4.0 btdc, i'am guessing it's 4 degress before to dead center ?

You want to move the injection pump anti clockwise I think. Loosen off the three bolts and use a suitable drift on one of the bolts to move the pump. You will only need to move it a few mm.

Now i'am confused lol

is dead simple :) you'll have to adjust the timing from the pump's pinion gear.

lose the 3 bolts and turn the center bolt anti clock or backwards ro retard the timing a bit....just give it a poke, then tight back the 3 bolts and check the VCDS

I thought it was done via the camshaft

I thought it was done via the camshaft

No because the can has to stay still relative to the crank. When you loosen the injector pulley bolts the belt doesn't move, only the pump does, that's why there are slots in the pulley.
