Rear parking sensor on 2013 Elegance 1.6TDi CR

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone has experienced their parking sensor going off while reversing, despite there being no object anywhere near? This happened to me in almost empty supermarket car parks last night. I actually got out to check and confirm that there was zilch in the way.

The sensors worked ok during the time I've owned the car - two weeks - until last night. No such trouble today, working fine...

Me too.

Think there was just some dirt over one of the sensors as when you give them a wipe with your finger they work again. You can tell which one has the problem by looking on the display.

Thanks Ronnie. I hand washed my car this morning, and after this the sensors worked no prob, so I think you must be right. Phew, saves a trip to the dealer, cheers!

Quite a few similar threads on here.

It seems that washing your car is bad for parking sensors...

The dealer had washed and waxed it before I picked it up a fortnight ago. Then it's obviously rained lots - you know only too well about the storms in the south and west of England! Come to think of it, while washing it today I found a waxy deposit/lump above the rear bumper. I guess this stuff could have done what Ronnie suggested. It could have even been a little leaf stuck over the sensor.

KBPhoto, thanks. I'll look again for similar topics on here, out of curiosity.
