Can't retrofit auto blending rear mirrors?

Featured Replies

For whatever reason I did not get my auto blending rear mirrors I was supposed to get when ordering electric driver seat (fit the inner auto blending though) so now the dealer says it cannot be retrofit and offers me something worth the same price add it would cost to order the mirrors explicitly when car was ordered (about 240£ so I've asked for a third hi beam light).

Is this true, ie they can't be retrofit?

Do You mean folding mirrors or dimming mirrors, because I don't understand what do You mena by "blending"...

Both options is possible to retrofit, the clue is cost.

Sorry, meant dimming mirrors. Hrm wonder if they actually checked if they could retrofit them at all them. Thanks.

They can be retrofitted. Eddie_NL in here has to his Mk2 FL Octavia. I'd be surprised if the Superb is massively different.

Called the "Skoda Support" in Sweden to verify it and the girl I talked to called back after talking with a technician. The tech guy told her that auto dimming mirrors could not be retro fit. When I asked why not, she was a bit vague since she did not understand what the tech guy talked about but apparently he said something about something about a "P-value" (?) and that it might harm the overall performance of the car (huh?).

So I guess this time the retailer was correct.

They just don´t know what they´re talking about.

Get in touch with René (www.cartrends.dk). He works in Copenhagen, but lives in Sweden. He can make you an offer, and/or tell you, if it´s possible to retrofit the auto-dimming mirrors.

So I guess this time the retailer was correct.

Hi, as said earlier in this thread they have no clue! To me they said that it wasn't possible to replace my Amundsen+ with a Columbus without "unpredictable behaviour" from the car's electronics ... And yes, I knew about the Bluetooth box I needed under the passenger seat (which they didn't) as well as the VCDS change needed ... But no, "you have to order the car with the stereo you want" was Skoda Sveriges conclusion.

See if you can find the answers among those with a genuine interest in our cars ... ;-)

Ha det bra!

Hrm ok thanks. A bit worrysome even Skoda Sverige doesn't know what is possible and not with their own cars.

I guess the retailer got his info from Skoda Sverige as well and simply trusted that they knew what they talked about. Got fitted after market xenon upgrade yesterday though on my 2 external hi beams to match the value of dimming mirrors (2600 SEK) so I have to live with the non dimming mirrors for 2 more years.

(The xenon converting job took no longer than two hours though so I probably got scammed on that "value" as well :P)
