Stupidly high service costs.

Featured Replies

I've just rang the local dealer for a quote for a 75k service on my Mazda 6 2.2d. They've quoted £720!? Because apparently according to mazda they need the replace the injectors and valve timings adjusted, I can understand the valves but the injectors are fine?. Has anyone else heard of any other manufacturer doing this?

Because I have an extended 3rd party warranty due to the timing chain issues I now face a question, do I pay it and be done with it? Or trade it in and take the financial hit of that? Or just get it serviced at an independent and not do the expensive bits which will void the warranty and hope the chain doesn't stretch?

Id of thought it would cost way more than £720 to replace 4 injectors on a modern diesel engine,id check with another dealer first.

They are talking crap

beening a mechanic I've never heard of the injectors needed to be replaced for a service and iv service quite a few mazdas with the 2.2,

go independent normally a lot cheaper and better service

and normally diesel injectors coz a fortune

Thanks all I thought it didn't sound right. I'm going to question them about it on Monday, I'd prefer to keep the dealer history but if needs be I'll go independent.

Ring Mazda UK before ringing the dealer to get the real story - 0845 330 2800.

Then when the dealer trys to stitch you up you can say with confidence over the phone that he is taking the p*** and that you aren't too happy about it.

Also, what does it say in the owners manual?

A bit off topic but how do you rate your mazda 6?

Thinking of trading my vrs in for one as I need a bit more economy!

I think the moral is never to accept one quote only.

Does it have a timing belt? Would seem a more likely explanation for a big bill at that sort of mileage.

My mate had an 07 2.0d Mazda 6, he did 120k in it before trading in for a Passat. It was royally shagged at that mileage and really only fit for scrap. He had a lot of probs inc DPF, brakes and rust.

Don't know if the newer models are better put together.

Cheers for that, I never thought about ringing mazda direct.

Mine is the lower powered 2.2 163bhp and to be honest it's a brilliant car and pulls really well for a large estate, it's covered 73k and I have the digital print off detailing all work carried out, it's had a turbo fitted at 58k just before I bought it but apart from that it's all good, so I suggest you check that before you buy one, it's not brilliant on fuel but then again, I don't drive it like Miss Daisy, I'm averaging 45mpg on mixed driving.

No, it has a chain. But some of them have a history of stretching apparently, generally it's before 40k, mine has been checked and is ok or rather was last year so hopefully mine is one of the ones that's unaffected but I still don't 100% trust it.

I have seen a awful lot of the Mk 1 mazda 6's covered in rust hopefully the Mk2 has been sorted but I don't intend to keep it for more than another two years at most. I may even trade it in this year if I can't find a suitable car for the wife, she gave birth to our first child at the end of Jan and her old 03 polo just isn't big enough for the pram and car seat so were looking at some 2006 Seat Altea's 1.6 petrols for her as they seem rather cheap. Anyone one have any info or experiences of these?
