Howdy,

 

I recently decided i was sick of the broken cigarette lighter in my octy, not being able to charge phones on the move is a pain in the arse. it never worked since i bought the car 2 yrs ago.

 

I got a replacement power unit as the bulb circuit worked on it, but not the socket.

New unit arrived and still no joy. checked the fuses, and all seem to be okay.

BUT first... what size fuse should it be, as mine is a 15amp, but i read elsewhere that its a 20amp?

 

Second... where does the wiring loom go under the centre console, to check for breaks..

Have you checked the switch on the drivers door handle that isolates the lighter socket and prevents the rear windows from opening for hen a child is on board?

yep... locks the back windows out of use perfectly.

but doesnt have any affect on the lighter...

I double checked the fuse, which seemed to be fine, but is now blown?

will be trying a new one tomorrow...

Well bugger me - 4 years into Octy ownership and I never realised that this switch disabled the lighter socket!

( .... neither did I until today, when i did a search for my problem!!!!   )

So i just went and swapped the fuse which was fine, with no lighter function,

then was blown yesterday... for a new 15amp, and it works...

 

WTF.... anyways, im not complaining, can charge fones and headlights on the move again :clap:
