I'm looking to get some skirts for my vRS don't want anything silly. Ive seen people use golf ones. Would Golf GTi  mk6 ones go on?

They would, rob-e put some on his white estate iirc. I prefer the mk5 gti skirts though, much more of a "skirt" than the mk6s.
